#573, "blocked tubes"

One of my 11 month old quads had tubes put in about two months ago. He had fluid in his ears and we could not get an accurate hearing test. We knew he had a loss in his left ear just not how bad. Anyway, we moved from NC to California. We went in to see an new audiologist last week for a follow up test, he found that the tubes are blocked and not doing what they are supposed to do. Went to our ped who said he cannot drain the tubes because what is in them would be toxic an could burst the ear drum. So I have an appointment with an ENT (two hours away:<) on Friday. I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and what I should expect? Will they have to take the tubes out, does that mean putting him under again? Thanks for the help. :>

When my sons tubes got blocked, our ENT had us put in a 50/50 solution of hydorgen peroxide and water. We put in 4-6 drops, then "pumped" his ears by pushing on the cartilage flap which covers the ear canal. This cleaned out the gunk and got the tubes flowing again. Perhaps your solution will be as easy as ours was, I hope!! Good luck, and don't worry about things that haven't come to pass. It is too draining and gets you nowhere! Wait and see what he says, with hope and faith all is possible!
