#755, "Failed Algo Test 2x - any info on hearing loss?"

My son, Alessandro, failed his Algo Hearing Test on his right ear (left ear passed). We are seeing an EENT doctor this Thursday to check if he has fluid inside his right ear. A diagnostic test is also scheduled next week to determine this hearing problem.

Do yny of you have a child with a hearing loss on just 1 ear? pls advise or share some info regarding this. did you go through this algo test, diagnostic test s well?

thanks,

liza

I'm not sure what the Algo test is..but my son just went thru hearing testing a couple of months ago and he failed as well. We sat in a soundproof booth and I showed him a book while the audiologist went into another room and would try to get his attention by speaking into a microphone then activiating some toys that made noise and moved. My son couldn't hear her once her voice got lower ( volume not pitch). He has fluid in both ears-it's called conductive hearing loss. He is getting tympanostomy tubes inserted next month and they will be doing an ABR test while he is under sedation. HTH

One of my boys had a moderate hearing loss on one side. His ENT put in 2 sets of tubes, took his adnoids out and flushed his sinuses and he was a new kid ! He does also have some auditory processing problems that we have been working on with him, but nothing that has had a major impact on him yet (that we can't accomodate at least). Good luck with the ENT.
