#771, "a 'thanks' to my 'other two'..."
|
I just have to share what my 'other two' did for charles tonight at dinner. i know you all could appreciate this.
Jones and Isa love to play peekabo while they are eating. One will cover their eyes and yell to the other "where are youuuuuuu!" Then they say 'peekabo' and they laugh and this goes on and on. Meanwhile, Charles was munching his dinner ignoring their game and was fixated on watching something out the window. Well, out of the blue, Jones yells "CHARLES!! WHERE ARE YOU?!" and Isa joined in and covered HER eyes and also yelled to charles, "where are you?!?!" then simultaneously they uncovered their eyes and said "i see you!" and then they laughed.
Charles paid no attention to what either of them were doing, and continued to shovel noodles in his mouth while staring at who-knows-what out the window. At first the tears flowed because Charles was so unaware that the other two were playing a game with him, but then my tears started to flow in gratitude for those two, for trying to involve Charles in their game, knowing full well, i'm sure, that he wouldn't be interested.
I know that God knew Charles could not come to earth alone--he NEEDS those 'other two'!!
Thanks for letting me share,
Meg

meg, your post really hit home. i see things like that happen alot in my household too, but never looked at it like you did. thanks for helping to put a positive spin on it. i agree, our "special children" are indeed blessed and lucky to have thier siblings to help them here on earth, but i think our "normal children" are also blessed to have thier special sibling. they will learn so much from each other over the years.

As I am now listening to my "other one" sing "Tomorrow! Tomorrow!" from Annie to her brothers on the monitor, I agree! A mom in our email group recently said something like this: That all special needs kids should be triplets to have that built in support group! Meg, don't give up...I bet one day Charles surprised you and joins in!! You have those typical peers right there in his face, pushing Charles on!
