look for my face on your next piece of toast, folks, because i seem to be magic.
my kids will swear up and down that they have looked EVERYWHERE for a library book/rugger shoes/borrowed toy, etc...and can't find it.
but me, with my magical powers, am able to find the item, and it is usually in a spot where the child promised they already looked.

AM I THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAPPENS TO?

We're just getting into this phase with our girls, but Mike's been that way for YEARS!

And I do have magical powers. My Proactiv once bleached my face print into a towel. Ooh, maybe I could auction it on eBay!

Sorry, it wasn't on my toast, it was on my tortilla on my breakfast burrito this morning My oldest is the same way. Go get your shoes out of your closet. She finds one but not the other. I go look in the same closet and magically it's there. Apparently she can't find it if it is upside down.

nope...and my dh is WAY WORSE! He couldn't find _________(fill in the blank) if it was stapled to him!

My favorite is how he blames me for moving stuff...yeah, I took your sunglasses and put them under the seat of your truck/in your jacket pocket/under the magazine YOU were reading...

Hee hee...maybe he will redeem himself if he can figure out how to bring me a Starbucks back on his Harley...I actually curious to see how he pulls this one off...

I was at the chiro the other day and one of the trio was looking for something - whining of course - and I did my standard answer for it -
"Use your eyes and not your mouth"

He LOL!

Ah yes...the elusive "Find It Gene". 2 of my children have been born with out it. My husband has been born with out it. One of my boys ALWAYS knows where he left stuff. It's really random and obscure. He's gonna be a REALLY great catch for someone someday. But otherwise I am the only one who is equiped with the "Find It Gene". And yes...that's what we actually call it at my house.

This even happens to me in the middle of the night, when I'm awoken from the dead, because somebody lost their necklace that they wore to bed, and can't find it while they were SLEEPING.

I have a feeling this isn't a "phase".

I am amazed at my ability to find anything and everything for everyone in this family! Just ask me and I'll tell you exactly where you left it.

Ask me if I know where something of mine is, can't tell you...

But to date, I cannot for the life of me find one son's yellow blankie, a froggie fleece blanket and Ryley's adorable pink 2 piece swimsuit. Then a toothbrush still in the package turned up missing just after it arrived in my house.

I think someone's messing with my powers. Trying to drive me more nuts than I am.

I'm trying to train my kids better than my dh, but its not working so well! dd will stand in a room, maybe even turn around, and claim she's looked EVERYWHERE.

We have that same issue in this house. But in our house, the "find it" gene seems to be gender specific. My 2.5-year-old DD can find things better than my 14-year-old son!

Does anyone else see it as just being logical? Like, if they just thought about where the possible places things could be, they could actually find it? Some days I just want to say "Duh!"

Ah NOPE!!! And my DH is the worst offender of this. So much so I sometimes just sit back and watch for awhile before I chime in.

"I think I saw it in X" Knowing full well right were it is.
