You move the nap later? My kids have been asking (crying, melting down, screaming "night night")to go to sleep at normal time (around 12:30 PM) but are screwing around in their cribs until about 1:30 PM. I just wondered if I should try to move the naps later, but they are so cranky that I put them down. Should I just get us through the crankiness, putting them down later, or keep the nap at the same time? What does this do to bedtime. They are going to bed between 8:00 and 8:30 PM. That's all I can handle but will I have to move that later too? please say no, please say no, please say no !!!!

Mine get up around 7:30am, go down for naps around 1, and go to bed around 7:30pm. That nap has gotten a little later - it used to be at like noon.

When mine fool around in their beds, I separate them. That almost always works. You can find space if you have to, so don't say you don't have room! In our old house, that meant one was in a PNP in my closet and one was in PNP in the bathroom. Now, I have one who sleeps on the landing of the stairs almost every day. (It's big and he sleeps on the "up" side - it would be really really tough for him to fall.)

No we have plenty of room for that, however the screaming from 3 different rooms drives me bonkers. They absolutely will not settle until all the sisters are together. I musta did something wrong there (LOL). Now that they can say each other's names they cry for each other in such sad, excruciating tones. OMG.....LOL. Maybe I should try it though. They are together like 24/7. I don't know how they do it.

Hi Jamye!

Our girls go down for naps at about 1-1:30. They were playing a lot at nap time, so I started taking a book with me and sitting on the floor in their room until they go to sleep (usually 10-15 minutes)to police them so they actually lay still long enough to fall asleep. Otherwise naps were way too late. They usually sleep until about 3, and go to bed at 7 PM (altho some nites they play in their room, without toys or lights until 7:30 or 8 PM). I admire your fortitude...I was cringing about moving bedtime from 6 to 7 PM, because I didnīt know how I would last another hour. Getting to 8 PM now seems like a monumental challenge. LOL!

I have done this too. I take my book in and ignore them only to get up and lay them back down. It usually results in something horrific, but if I can get one on board usually the other two go along too.

In fact, when they wake in the middle of the night, as they sometimes do, I sleep on their floor after the 2nd or 3rd wake up. Hopw pathetic is that? OMG, they are worse now when they were babies. They slept great then. LOL.

Our afternoon nap has moved back to 2pm. The boys sleep for about 2 hours, Ella usually only sleeps for 1 hour. They are all in bed, without complaint, at 8pm every night.

I'm exactly at that stage! Right now, mine have been down for about 1/2 hour & I can still hear them partying. And like your's, my one son will say, "Night night". It's so aggrivating, isn't it? Last night DH said he wondered if we were putting them to bed too early. They are usually in bed by 8 pm but seem to stay up till 9:00 or so. I told him I thought maybe it was the opposite. Maybe we have been missing our "window".

We use to put them to bed by 7:30 & they seemed to do alright. Who knows. Just wanted to let you know I'm right there with ya!

Our naptime is slowly moving back- started at 11:30 then 12:00, now 12:30 and they goofed off in their beds until 1:15 today... they take books to bed with them and I just let them "play-it-out" for now. I try not to let them nap past 3:30 or else they are too well rested for bed!
(They go to bed between 7:00 and 7:30.)

I say, put them down at regular nap time. If they play, just let them play until they fall asleep and then just wake them up if you have to in order to keep your bedtime?

Mine are 3.5 and we FINALLY got naps back since we seperate them at nap time. The process has taken about 3.5 months but we are finally regaining some control. One is in the bedroom...one on a little "bed cushion" in the hall entrace way...and the other on the floor in the dining room. They went for months without naps and became so terribly sleep deprived that they just could not sleep well at all...it was really bad. We have turned the corner!

Now they all sleep mostly every day for 2 hours.....yay!

I would put them down a bit later, they'll probably sleep better and you'll be MUCH happier! lol Do whatever you have to do to keep them happy for that last hour before naps - stand on your head, go for a walk, something!

Do you think bedtime is a bit late? We're still going down about 7:30-8, even with a 2 hour nap. They don't nap every day, especially Roo, but they do lay down when we're home.

Guess you'll have to just play with their schedule and see what works. Maybe an earlier bedtime, means nap time can stay the same for you or a later nap time to keep your bedtime at the same time.

Good luck!!!
