My 6 year old has decided she wants to be the little mermaid. Fine with me! We have the mermaid fin already. We have had it for YEARS and they play dress up with it all the time. I have no idea what to do for a top! She wants it to look like the little mermaids. I cant seem to find anything.
I know this is SO last minute but I didnt realize her heart was set on that darn mermaid! I had another costume in plan.

She reallllly wants the purple top.
I can not find a bikini top at all. I am no good at sewing either.
For what its worth....It is hot here in florida and I have no problem with her in a bikini top.

What would you do?
Also I am now on the lookout for a red wig for her.

Could you talk her into wearing coconut shells or something like that, I am sure you could find something on line like that.

Just an idea...

If you could find a tan (skin-colored) tank top, you could buy puffy paints for clothes and just draw on the shells.

Or find a bikini top (any) that fits her and just pin or stitch on two cut-out shells from cloth.

How about some shells and a drill and some yarn...she could wear it alone or attach it to a slightly small stretchy shirt...something with a bit of lycra in it.

Edited to add...you could even paint the shells with spray paint to get a color similar to what she wants.

I am going to a few stores this weekend and I am thinking I might find some coconut shells! She will definitly go for that.
Somebody else mentioned using that hair color in a can for the red. You kow the kind that is like hairspray but different colors! my little girl just might get that costume she wants!!!
