#2322, "Next Transition - Input?"
|
Hello! Time for the next transition! Thought I'd see what others have done. Our babies are a year old. We still rock them to sleep with a bottle at night then put them in cribs. They go to sleep for naps on their own fairly well. Andrew naps in my room, though, so it will be different for him in his room, with the distraction of his sisters. I feel like they still need their bottles at night to get their milk intake - the little spoiled ones still don't drink much milk from sippies during the day even though they CAN. However, I don't want to give them their bottles in bed. Anyone else do this transition at this age? (from rocking to sleep at night to going to sleep alone?) How did it go? (I'm aware this may be harder on us than it will for them. ) What are/were others' bedtime routines at this age?
Thanks!

Our schedule has pretty much been the same for a long time. We've never rocked our kiddos. I have to say, I'm a little jealous that you do We also stopped bottles when they were one. It was right at their birthday.
My kids were in their cribs about 7:30 or 7:45 pm every night. We have always just layed them down (awake) & gave kisses, etc. & left the room. So, they are used to this. I'm sure it will be a bit of a transition for you all. I would start with one thing at a time...maybe stop with the bottles first or whichever one you want to do. I think taking both things away at the same time will be very hard. I'm usually a cold turkey kind of gal, but with 2 things they are used to, I wouldn't risk the craziness..lol.
You will probably have to let them CIO for some nights. You're right, it is probably harder on you. But it will slowly get better.
Good luck & hang in there! Check us out at: http://thewrighttrips.blogspot.com/

I recommend you getting one of the Fisher Price light show nightlights. Mine LOVE it and it eased them into that phase. It is meant to attach to a crib but converts to sit on a dresser as well. It puts a whole moving light show on the ceiling and my kids would instantly lay down and stay laying down so they could watch it. The music is soothing and it turns off on it's own. I bought ours for $20 at BRU. We have the Ocean Wonders one and it evens has a remote control in case you need to turn it on without them seeing you.

I know! It's gonna be so sad. That's why I said it will probably harder on us than them. I'm glad we got to do it for so long though. I get the feeling not many triplet families do. So, how did your babies do when you stopped rocking them? Were they in the same room? GGB miracles born 9/07 34 weeks! Emma 4.4 Lauren 4.11 Andrew 4.9
