Hi, I am new to this site also. I am 24 wks today. I have been told that 32 weeks is average but 35 weeks is possible and that is our goal. Of course anything can happen along the way, but with bed rest and terbutaline we are hoping foir a good outcome. Good Luck To You!

Hi,
I am expecting spontaneous triplets. I am 13 weeks today and so far pregnancy is going well. However, at the rate I am growing (people tell me that I look 5 months pregnant) I often wonder how soon it'll be before I'm put to bedrest. My doc says unless I have complications he will not need to put me on bedrest. But I'm not sure how much longer I can get around, I have spontaneous 3 year old twin girls at home so it is not easy...
If you don't mind me asking, have there been any complications with your pregancy that your doctor put you on bedrest? Liz Ostolaza, Mother of Spontaneous Twins & Expecting Spontaneous Triplets

Congratulations! I delivered GBB triplets at 32w6d on August 4th. I, too, was hoping for 35 weeks. I never went on bedrest, my cervix never opened and I never felt a contraction. But my 32w ultrasound showed that our little girl had IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction) and was not growing so I was delivered early. They are all doing great and were home within a month. The lesson to me was to expect the unexpected. Every pregnancy is different.
I tried to focus on some milestones - 24 weeks (when the babies could still survive if delivered), 28 weeks (when the health complications of prematurity drop significantly), and 32 weeks (average for triplets). The most important thing is that you trust your doctor to deal with whatever complications your pregnancy may have. I received 48 hours of steroids to help the babies' lung maturity. If that hadn't happened, they would have probably all needed respiratory assistance and would have been in the hospital much longer.

Congrats! I delivered GGB at 30 weeks and three days to be exact! Yes, the dr's would ideally like 32-34 weeks. Isabella was born at 1lb10oz, Ashley at 3lbs and Ryan at 3lb1oz. All of them are great now -- Isabella at 8.5lbs, Ashley at 12.5 and Ryan at 13lbs -- they are four mths old.
What is key is have faith, relax and eat well. Having triplets is a wonderful and amazing journey. I worked from home (on the sofa with a laptop) at end of the first trimester and by the middle of my second trimester bedrest. I drank tons of water, read tons of magazines and books and got lots of rest. Take advantage...once they come home...those days will be over!
I was in the hospital for about a month and a half. I met another triplets mom and they put us in the same room. About two weeks before I gave birth they put each one of us in a private room.
Some suggestions:
--- Go out to your favorite restaurants now with your hubby...and yes go see a movie afterwards
--- Read magazines and books...what to expect is great!
--- When you go to a maternity clothing store...buy a size that is larger ....extra! if you fit well in a medium buy large...your belly will grow so fast that by the time you are ready to put on your medium they will be small. I loved jogging pants they are so comfy...old navy etc.
--- Look at babiesrus.com, read baby magazines, find out what you would like for your baby shower etc...keep your mind busy!
Good luck! If you need anything let me know!
Kathy

Welcome! Good luck with your pregnancy! Just keep positive thoughts! Remain as relaxed as you can and trust your doctors will do the best for you.
I had my triplets at 32 weeks and 6 days. I worked full time up to the three weeks before they were born and then it was only modified bedrest due to contractions. I was able to stay at home and was on Procardia and Terb with home monitoring. I went in for a check up on the day the trio was born and they discovered I had preeclampsia and had to deliver ASAP. If it wasn't for my body giving up, I was scheduled to deliver them at 35 weeks. Just keep in mind that everyone is different!

Congratulations! I was put on bedrest at 20 weeks too due to excessive swelling. By the next morning my swelling went down a bit & I had lost 5 lbs of fluid overnight...I delivered at 33 weeks 2 days (water broke) and my trio weighed 4-4, 4-9, 5-0. They were not on oxygen or anything. I was put in the hospital one day shy of 29 weeks due to contractions (I'm only 5'3" & not a lot of room for the babies) and stayed there until I delivered. The Procaria helped the contractions, but they never went away. Try to relax & enjoy the rest. Best of luck to you!

My triplets were born at 29 weeks this past October 27th. I too was on bedrest for about three weeks in the hospital when they had to take them out. The norm is 32-34 weeks. There was another set here that were born at 37 1/2 weeks. So there is no just answer. Try to rest as much as possible and get FREQUENT sonograms. I was getting them every mon/wed/fri. That friday the saw the problem and saved baby A's life. Attachment
