I'm 15 weeks and just started to show. I talk to both of my Dr's and they said that I'm doing fine and that the trips are great but every time I move I feel them. Is this normal. I was 125 pre-pregnancy now I'm at 136. In my pregnancy book and also from talking to another trip mom I need to pick up the weight gain. I don't know if I can eat anymore than I am already. I couldn't eat meat until just now though, made me sick. Does anyone have any advice on this am I doing o.k. or should I eat more Ice Cream:P ?

I personally didn't gain any weight at all until I hit about 15-16 weeks. The docs told me that I was doing ok. The babies were growing but I had morning sickness so bad that I couldn't eat anything but soup and dry toast. I am almost 28 weeks now and have gained a total of 30 pounds. I would say, as long as the babies are growing on target and the docs aren't concerned then you are probably fine and will catch up in the next few weeks. Just keep eating as healthy as possible and take your vits. Denise

It sounds like I'm right there with you! I'm currently 16 weeks and have gained only about 6 lbs. My belly is definately showing and each ultrasound shows the babies getting bigger, so my doctor says that I'm okay. He said the weight will come and it will come quickly. But I couldn't eat meat until just recently either. Just thinking about eating steak or chicken was appaulling. Now I'm better with that and eat A LOT through the day. I've also started drinking Ensure with extra protein.
I still haven't felt the little ones move yet, but can see in ultrasounds that they are. So far, we're up to 2 boys and 1 TBD. I go back tomorrow, so hopefully they can see something (or not see 'something') then.
Good luck to you! Sounds like our due dates should be pretty close. 40 wks would be May 3rd for me. If you ever want to talk, just write back. I have no expert advice for you, but we're going through this together!
Good luck and enjoy the ice cream!

I'm right there too. I'm 11 weeks today and had lost a pound from my original weight when I saw the doctor last week. Those of you with triplets - are your triplets fraternal, or any identical ones in there? I have twins sharing a placenta and have their own amnion and then a single sac baby. My doctor laid it on us last week about the concerns about the twins sharing a placenta and the risks in general about triplets. He noted that natural triplets are even more at risk than those going through fertility, so even more to worry about. Anyone else out there like me? This is my first pregnancy and it scares the heck out of me! I'm very excited but also so reserved because of all of the risks!

Hi! Congratulations! I have identical, spontaneous triplet girls who are almost 10 months old. My OB also explained the risks of sharing a placenta, but by GodŽs grace we had no problems. IŽm not sure why spontaneous multiples would have more problems, unless he just means identicals vs. fraternal? Anyway, the girls were born at almost 4 lb each, and with a maximum difference of 3 1/2 ounces in weight between them. This was also my first (only??)pregnancy and it was scary at first, but I loved being pregnant, and I love being a mother...wouldnŽt trade this for the world!! Take it easy, drink lots of water, and enjoy your pregnancy! Hi Dionne,
Thanks for the feedback! I love hearing about similar situations that turned out excellent!! Congratulations on your 10 month olds! How long were your babies in the hospital after delivery and were you awake during the delivery? Here's my email address too, I really appreciate the feedback!

I ate as much as possible early on. I've always had a problem with eating though, a combination of an aversion to food (NOT an eating disorder) coupled with the fact that I'm go go go and usually forget/forgot to eat lunch so I decided to keep track of my eating habbits. I did this from week 12 through week 23. On average, I was eating about 3400 calories a day and 180 grams of protein. It was HARD, so HARD!!! I was 112 pre pregnancy and am 5'5". After about 23 weeks, my eating became much more difficult and it was starting to make me sickto eat so much. So I backed off and just ate what I could, when I could AND ate what sounded good to me.
Up until about 23 weeks I really was "eating healthy". Making sure I took in my meats, vegetables, healthy carbohydrates, drinking my vitamin D milk, not too much sugar.... that sort of thing. But after about 23 weeks, i just couldn't do that anymore. I just couldn't. So if I wanted pudding for dinner, I ate it. Lots of calories in there. But I also took a protein shake wiht it. One of those really small protein shakes, I personally recommend (from a PICKY eater)Optimum nutrition 100% WHEY protein (DOES NOT contain Vitamin A, which is essential to stay away from too much in pregnancy). ONe night I wanted brownies for dinner. It was the only thing that sounded good. But I took a protein shake afterwards. I could get that protein shake down in 2 gulps and it wasn't that bad at all.
I gained about 54lbs during my pregnancy, carried my babies to 32 weeks 4 days and my babies were 4lbs 7oz, 4lbs 3oz and 4lbs 2oz.
So now that i've written a novel... I'll jsut say this, from my experience, it's essential to get as much "healthy" eating in as early on as possible. Because later in the pregnancy, you might not be having morning sickness but you won't want to eat because there won't be any room. Just eat as MUCH as you can, and if brownies sound good... EAT THEM!!!!!
