#92, "handicapped triplet"

I am the mother of 13 year old triplets. My middle triplet has cerebral palsy. Baby A and Baby C were fine. I would like information from anyone knowing how frequent this occurs or if anyone else is going through this situation. Please E-mail me.

I have no advice to give you, but would just like to say, I am here for you. I am also 13, and have bro/sisters who are triplets. If you need some one to talk to, you can e-mail me at lily74@homestead.com .

LAST EDITED ON Jan-22-01 AT 03:09 PM (EDT)

I have 4 1/2 year old quadruplets and one of them, Rachel has spastic diplegia CP. She's just learning to walk now. I've been trying for a year or more to find other parents of multiples who have one with CP to brainstorm and find out how they handle things like, one not being able to keep up with the others or getting more attention because of all the doctor/specialist visits I take her to, etc. Anyway, your kids are much older than mine, but if you want to talk/brainstorm, etc., or have any suggestions for me at this stage of the game, please write! Thanks.

Karen
mom of Connor, Megan, Rachel and Benjamin (born 6/3/96 - 29 wks, 5 days)

Hi! I am the mom of 6 year old triplets. Two have asthma, one severe. the severe asthmatic also has autism (mild) and a metabolic disorder in the pku family. It is called methyl malonic acidemia. Life has its ups and downs. I find that there are lots of misconceptions, and not much sympathy. I'm currently trying to get a title 19 waiver (for disabled children, not dependent on income) to get social services, a medical card, and respit care. Stephen cannot attend school without an aide, but does well with one. He's in the autism class this year, which has helped immensely. I'm tired a lot, and stressed out a lot. I wouldn't give him up, but lots of times I wish he was "normal". It does seem to strain the typical triplet bond significantly, but also makes the others much more understanding. I would love to correspond with other parents who have some of the same difficulties - I think we're often alone out there.
Danine
