#1005, "please light a candle"

Please light a candle…

January 28th, 2005 is the first birthday of our beloved triplets
Tobias Edward, Benjamin Gabriel, and Zoe Rose Friedman.

A year ago they were born, far too early, and faced insurmountable problems. Nevertheless, they fought as hard as they could. Toby had underdeveloped lungs, but lived for over 12 hours- he knew our voices, he felt our touch. Ben had terribly low blood pressure, but he lived for nearly 36 hours- he heard our prayers, songs, and died peacefully in his mother’s arms. Zoe lived bravely and fiercely, she was strong and the biggest of our children. But her tender flesh couldn’t withstand the necessary treatments; she lived for over 36 hours. She felt our touch, heard our voices and wishes for her, she held her mother’s finger. She fought so hard, and died slowly savoring her mother’s love and the feeling of being held for the first and last time. We love our children and miss them everyday, we mourn them and long for them, and we are so very proud to be their parents.

Please light a candle at 7:00 pm, on Friday, January 28th, so that our angels can see the light from Heaven, knowing they are loved and remembered always.

Thank you all for your patience, love, and kindness throughout this very difficult year.

Kendra and Jamie

What precious little souls, so loved.
A candle will be lit in their honor, and yours.
I am so sorry for the pain this year must have been.

Typing through tears,
Julie

My heart is knit together with your's during this difficult anniversary. You will be in my prayers, and I am sure that your babies will always know that they are loved and remembered. God bless you.

It is better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all. In memory of Carina, who was greatly loved.

Kendra & James,

I missed the candle, so sorry, but said a prayer for your babies to be held close in the love of the Lord and for you and your husband to be comforted and protected on this anniversay of your precious babies' birth.

I know this is a sad night for you and I send you my hugs and my prayers.

Marie

Dear Friends and Family,

First we would like to thank you all for participating in remembering our triplets Friday night. We are aware of candles being lit all around the world- a wave of light that traveled from Australia all the way to California. We are certain that Toby, Ben, and Zoe felt the warmth of our love and light on their first brithday.

Jamie and I spent Friday remembering our time with our sweet babies. In the morning we went to a mass that was said at St. Joseph's church with their names in remembrance. We then went to Toby, Ben, and Zoe's grave with their grandparents, and left them balloons and gifts. We lit candles on their flower-cake, and one by one each candle was blown out by the wind- I'm sure the babies made special wishes first! Later in the afternoon, we went back with the babies' aunt and had a balloon release. We let 9 balloons go, each with special messages attached for each baby.

I finally found the peace in my heart to begin work on Toby, Ben, and Zoe's scrapbook, something I have planned and thought about for this whole year. On Friday night, Jamie and I went back to the grave, and lit the babies' eternal light candle, shortly before 7:00. Then we lit three special candles, reading their cards aloud for our angels. It was a wonderful day- devoted to 3 very special people.

We would like to thank you all for participating in this day, but also for remembering everyday just how special our children are to us. Their loss is a devastating one, as I'm sure you all imagine, and in many ways we lose them everyday all over again. It is with your love and support and patience that we (and especially I) make it through each day, and have been able to come through this year. We never imagined that we would have to say goodbye to our children, or that we would only be able to share such a short time with them, but we would never trade those moments in.

Thank you again, you have 3 angels looking over you with love,
Kendra and Jamie
