#1826, "Wording needed for gravestone"
|
Well, we are finally going to order the grave marker for Karina. I feel terribly that it has taken us this long, but between finances and emotions, it just hasn't ever been the right time to decide what we wanted and pay for it. Well, today something very upsetting happened, and I want to get her marker NOW!
My father called to let me know, just in case I went to visit her gravesite, that they had mistakenly "scored" the edges of her burial plot in preparation to dig for a new grave, which is supposed to be the spot NEXT to hers. We all spoke with the funeral services director at the cemetery, and there is no way they would have accidently dug her grave up, because they have three different people measure and confirm the plot before digging starts, to avoid just such a mistake. But the first of those people got it wrong, and it was still very upsetting. Well, nothing like rubbing in the guilt that my dd is still in an unmarked gravesite.
So to make a long story short, I would really love input if any of you have special poems or anything that acknowledge or commemorates the fact that our little angel is a triplet, which I could use on her grave marker. Anything you are comfortable sharing would be appreciated. I've seen Kelly's marker for Eastyn, which is just wonderful, and I love that poem. I wonder if there are any more poems or ideas like that I could consider?
TIA!
Anne

I don't remember who wrote it, but someone here had a poem that I just loved. I used it at the bottom of Brandon's welcome home announcements, but I had to change the wording around because I lost 2 of my babies. It went: Three hearts conceived All grown with love Two here on earth One in heaven above (I had to switch the two and the one) My babies' have a grave marker but all I was allowed to put were there names and the dates.

I spent months trying to think of the perfect thing to write on my daughter's grave stone and nothing just ever seemed right. We finally went with...... Across the top it says "Precious Triplet sister and daughter" then it has her name and birthdate. On the bottom it says "If we had a rose for every time we thought of you we could walk through our garden forever" There is also a picture of an angel kneeling next to a lamb on one of the sides. I have to say that her gravestone is beautiful. Another saying that I love is "If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane I would march right up to heaven and bring you back home again" God Bless, Angie
Mom to Trent, Trey, and ^Grace^ born 8/8/02 Trevin born 5/26/04 Taryn born 10/24/06.

I love the poem, about the rose and the garden. That is SO beautiful, and fitting for a precious baby girl.
Anne, I'm going to try to post the picture of the back of Eastyn's headstone again, just in case. I am truley happy and proud (if that makes any sense) about how his came out. I think that the picture of Jesus holding a baby would be beautiful etched on granite. Or you could put the poem about the butterfuly that you used for her birthday on it.....I don't think that you could do anything wrong.
One thing that I did that I wish I didn't, I bought the headstone way too big. It's so hard when you have so many to choose from, and I didn't want to get the smallest thing they had.

Hi Anne,
I shared my poem with Kelly (KPark), which I wrote when DH and I learned of the loss of our son - I am very honored that she and her family chose to use it on Eastyn's gravemarker. I had not known until reading your thread that Cindy also was able to use it for Brandon's welcome home announcements. I am deeply touched that others have connected with something that is so personal to me. If the poem is of use to you at any time please do not hesitate to use it as well.
I am sorry to hear of the mistake that happened at the gravesite and hope that you gain some peace with whatever you choose to do in marking Karina's gravesite. Here are some thoughts I had...
Our triplet angel looks down from above Little Karina, remembered with love.
Now there are two Where once there were three Our angel Karina In Heaven with Thee
