dear moms, I need an advice and I thought to come here to ask you.
A dear friend of mine lost her triplet babies at 21 weeks a year ago (TTTS) after 15 days in the NICU (!!!). it was a very tough year for her as she lost her father too after only 1 months the babies passed.
but yesterday she gave birth to twins boys and we are all very happy and exited for her.
I'd like to give her a present but I want it to be not the usual baby stuff. I was thinking to draw two t-shirts with their name on it and maybe 3 ladybugs/butterflys or flowers above the names. I'm not sure if this will sound inappropriate or not, especially coming from a friend,.maybe it will hurt her. I don't know what to do. maybe you all can help me.

I think it would be sweet, and she would probably appreciate that you are remember her triplets. I wouldn't be hurt at all if somebody did that for me. Well, I'd probably cry, but I wouldn't be hurt. I'd be touched, and thankful that they're not thinking the two can replace the three.

Everyone is different. I personally would be touched. I think for me I would really be touched by maybe some onesies (or something) that say "little brother" or something like that....showing they have 3 older siblings.

They make bracelets that you can have charms personalized with names - you could create a bracelet with a charm for each of her 5 children, with their names on each. They also make intertwined rings with names on them.

That's more of a gift for her than the babies, though.

I also remember a while ago someone making signs to hang in the new babies' room that said something about "this room is guarded by three angels" and then had the babies names on it as guardian angels. That's not a great description, but maybe someone here remembers it better than me??

That was me : ). I have pictures on my myspace too if you want to see them. I think the ones in the photo say "This home is guarded by three angels" but I can change that. Or you can make it too...it is very easy.

I think it sounds like a wonderful gift. I would cry as well, but not from being hurt, instead because someone remembered my babies. As time goes by, people tend to not remember the babies that are not here with us and that is what hurts.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and advices, I really appreciated it! They are still in the hospital , about to be discharged, so I have some time to prepare something for the babies.
