I don't have any experience with the death of an older triplet but I wanted to let you know how sorry I am to learn of your daughter Emily's death. Please know that we are all here to listen and talk when you need to.
My name is Engrid and I lost one of my triplet boys very suddenly at 32+ weeks. I didn't find out about the loss until I was on the delivery table so it was quite a shock to my husband and our families. My other two boys are doing wonderful and we are expecting another baby this May.
Much Love,

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the depth of your grief and of that of your surviving triplets. I lost my baby in utero so cannot relate to the older child loss but I did have a friend lose a child at 13mos.
Have you contacted an asociation for Epilepsy? They may have a support board. You might also check with CLIMB - I believe that they do have support for the loss of an older multiple.
My prayers and thoughts of support go out to you.
Marie

Sarah, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I have no words of wisdom or stories to share, but wanted to say that I'm sorry that you are going through this nightmare.
There is a loss board at ivillage.coms parentsplace message boards devoted to loss in multiples and to loss of a toddler/loss of a younger child, perhaps you will find someone there that has a close story.
With much sadness,
Ruth

When I read your post my mouth dropped open in shock. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My 3 are almost 4 years old, and I cannot imagine lossing one of them. I don't know that I would ever be able to function normally again. How are the other two handling it? I don't know how death can be explained to a child that young so that they understand. As for the seizures, I don't know where they come from. I didn't start my seizure disorder until I was about 20 years old. Just out of the blue. Again, I am so sorry for your loss!

I am so sorry for the loss of your Emily. There are no words for such a loss. I live in Italy and I belong to a local association of twin-triplets with some Swiss members. One year ago we were all terribly shocked by the sudden loss of little Alessia (http://www.ilmondodeigemelli.it/alessia/dedicato_ad_alessia.html), one of a GBB set of triples. She was almost three at the time. It started as a usual disease (sore throat, then pneumonia) and after a couple of days in the hospital Alessia left her parents and her brothers. Her mother Bernadette has been through such a difficult time. In her brief life Alessia touched so many lives. I will contact Alessia's mom to see if she can write English and put her in contact with you.

Hi, My most sincere condolences extended to you as you grieve for your precious Emily. I can't offer you must advice, as my child was stillborn. However, I can offer you some possible connections for support.
There is one national organization in particular that offers local, email, and phone support called "The Compassionate Friends." http://www.compassionatefriends.org/ They run an organization for parents who have lost a child at any age. It seems to be predominated mostly by parents who have lost an older child, similar to your situation. Although, it is open for any bereaved parent with any situation/circumstance.
Another organization I HIGHLY recommend you contact is: Mothers in Sympathy and Support (MISS Foundation). www.missfoundation.org This is an organization for bereaved parents of perinatal and neonatal loss. This organization is mainly dominated by parents who have lost an infant or young toddler. However, it too is open to any bereaved parent with the loss of a child/ren.
Another organization is "Center for the Loss In Multiple Births (CLIMB). www.climb-support.org This is solely an organization dedicated to parents who have had a multiple-birth loss of any type.
Another orginization is "SHARE, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support." www.nationalshareoffice.com They are an organization that mainly deals with parents who have lost a pregnancy in-utero, to stillbirth, to neonatal death.
I encourage you to check-out this website: "A Place to Remember." www.aplacetoremember.com If anything, they have invaluable information for parents who have experienced the death of a child/ren.
Finally, you can always email Janet here at The Triplet Connection, and she may have some connections to share with you for support.
In sympathy, 7mozz

My deepest, sincerest sympathies. I wish I could make the pain go away from losing your precious, precious child.
At fertilethoughts.com there are some boards you can post at that you may find helpful. Both are under "parenting" - parenting after a loss and loss of an infant/child. The women there are amazing, caring people.
hugs and love - Amanda

I am so sorry for your loss. You will be in shock for a bit longer, so while you are in shock, I encourage you to find some grief support groups of other parents who have lost young children. Online groups are good, but you really need to have others around you who will be able to hold you and comfort you physically as you go through the healing process on this.
How are your other babies doing? I pray that you and your family will be comforted during this very difficult time. I just cannot even imagine your pain, for I lost my baby before I could hold her in my arms.
You are in my prayers.

This was my original post when Emily first died. Because I haven't been on-line since then I never got the chance to say thank you for all the kind posts.
It has now been 8 months and I still have yet to talk to another mom who lost an older child...I'm still looking.

Sarah,
I saw the note in CLIMB's newsletter about you looking for other parents in the same situation. I hope that there is someone out there who can be of comfort to you. I tried the same thing, I reached out for other parents of survivors in my area ,and found none. I did, howevre, by happenstance, deicide to join a triplet group, and found a wonderful friend in a woman raising surviving quads.
I am sure the last 8 months have been hard, and more hard days are to come. But remember, there will be, and are good days, too.
Hug your precious children, and hold your angel in your heart.
Hugs from me, Erika
