#1, "Diapers"

I thought I would start off this new discussion forum with a review of diapers.

Diapers are a necessity and they are expensive! Considering what they're used for, it seems a waste! The cheap diapers are just not worth the risk

I've found the best "name brand" diapers to be Huggies, but Huggies are just too expensive. I thought Pampers would be good too, but having tried them on several occasions and was very disappointed with the results... and they're expensive too.

We began purchasing the Kirkland brand from Costco and were very satisfied with those. Great results and very affordable.

We now live where it's a bit far to run to Costco everytime we need diapers, so we're stuck with Wal-Mart; however, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of diapers they sell (the Wal-Mart brand... yellow package with a duck or ducks on it). Also, very inexpensive!

Bo,

We use the non-brand diapers (my FIL bought about 1000 of them in various sizes from a local business that was going out of business)most of the time during the day when they will have frequent changes. At night we use Luvs. They seem to provide us the best combination of functionality and affordability.

Regards,

John

I have used Huggies, Pampers, & DriBottoms (Walmart brand)--we got the best results with the DriBottoms & they are inexpensive compared to the other brands.

We use Pampers. We did not have much luck with Huggies. They leaked a fair amount for us. We also tried some Luvs, but were not really happy with those. We have used a few off-brands, but have never found one that we really liked. We have lately had a problem with the Pampers starting to leak at night. I saw a post a few weeks ago about someone complaining that the new and improved Pampers (with bluish green sides) are not as good as the old ones. I am thinking that this could be true. We buy the Pampers at Walmart most of the time because we get the 96(?) pack for $18 or so. Seems to be about the best price we can find. We did get a larger pack at Target for about 2 cents a daiper cheaper. We may have to try another brand if the leaking doesn't get better. One of the problems I am finding is that we have a hard time getting the diaper on them very well. They wiggle around so much that we never seem to get a good snug fitting. But that is a personal issue....not a daiper issue.....

Frankly, I believe this varies with each child. In our experience, I have found that Huggies leak both through the diaper and out the sides while pampers, and luvs are equally great with NO leaks and no messes. However, I use the white cloud brand from Wal-mart. I have tried the baby-dry kind with little suzie's zoo and I would rather let them go naked than try those things again. Not kidding. Not only did they not "catch" anything, but they broke my babies little white hiney's out!!!

We only use Huggies. They are the only diaper that my children won't leak out of. Pampers were truly awful and we tried every "cheap" diaper that we could get our hands on. No Luck, we are stuck paying more, but we don't have to change them as often and we aren't stuck doing more laundry b.c they are leaking pee everywhere. In my mind, it's worth the extra money!

We use Pampers during the day and Huggies Overnites at night. These guys pee like it's going out of style at night!

I sometimes use regular Huggies if they're on sale but they are not my favorite.

We use Luvs for both day & night. I buy one size bigger for night & they work just fine. We have used the Kirklands & thought they were great, but our Costco no longer carries them. We have also tried the Huggies & Pampers and had better luck with Pampers. The Luvs are almost exactly like the Pampers & are much less expensive.

We've used a lot of different brands of diapers (both name-brands & store-brands) and found Pampers to be the best for us. They don't leak, but if they do we know it's time to go to the next size up & then they're fine. The next best we found was BJs brand, but it wasn't near as good as Pampers. Huggies was truly awful - they leak every time, pee or poop. Luvs was not much better and the plastic outer liner gave the babies rashes.

If we'd had a diaper service in the area, I would have gone with cloth diapers. But we don't and I wasn't about to add to my laundry woes!

I hated the LUVs too when they had the plastic outer liner, but they are now almost identical to Pampers.

It's Storks Choice for us! We've used these diapers for about 1 1/2 yrs & love them. It's great because they are delivered right to our door. No more running out of diapers & dashing to the store! The quality is great we don't have any problems with leaking.
They offer a special for $29.95 a case for 3 months. The code is abc123cx. You can contact them at 1-877-67-stork or the website: www.storkschoice.com
We can't say enough great things about these diapers!

I have alos tried many, many brands of diapers. I love Pamper.s Huggies, and Luvs, and used those 3 brands exclusively until my girls were about 1. It was only then that I tried brands, and I was never happy with the results. My oldest daughter had been in a size 6 for over a yr, and many of the store brands just didn't fit her. So, for the most part, we stuck with the name brands.

We have used Pampers almost exclusively and have been happpy with them. Best price found has been at BJ's. Although, like the above poster we have had some trouble with leaking at night. To try and help this situation (since overnights don't start until bigger sizes) we have added "diaper doublers" to the bedtime diaper. This looks like a sanitary pad (sorry guys) and it is laid in the diaper for extra absorbancy. It does help somewhat to decrease the nighttime leaks. The only problem is that only one store around me carries them and I think they may discontinue carrying them soon. Hopefully, they'll come out with an overnight diaper in smaller size soon. (Maybe I'll try the next size up though as someone here recommeded).

We use Huggies almost exclusively. We found they work best for us both during the day and night. We use the Ultra Trim ones because they fit the best without making the boys look like they've got 5 pounds of diaper on all the time (it's bad enough when they fill their diapers to that full as it is.)

As an side note, has anyone contacted you local grocery stores about getting diapers for free? We had our local City Market give us free diapers for the entire time the boys need them. Here's how it works. The local manager orders all the packages that have been re-sent to the district distribution center due to being torn open during shipping (or by customers). These are normally destroyed by the distribution center, but can be requisitioned by stores for just such purposes. We have found the the packages are normally just torn and not even missing any of the diapers. We get several brands and sizes, but we pick out what we need/want and give the rest to our local county food bank for them to distribute. This takes a little bit of gumption and work on our part but has helped immensely with the cost of diapers. We have had to add in between shipments, but has worked fairly well for us

We use only Huggies. Both diapers and wipes. I have tried other brands: Pampers, Luvs, Dri-Bottoms(Wal-Mart brand) and nothing seems to work as good as the Huggies.

I buy the store brand at Sam's club-they are great for nighttime and running around. We use cloth during the day. I used cloth at night for my infants b/c they would get changed during the night when they woke to feed but cloth at night isn't enough for my toddlers I don't like the Huggies-my 5 month old keeps getting "plumbers butt" in them and leaking or the tabs rip open at the worst times! I like the disposables with the tape that sticks like cement! Target store brand works well too.

I to like the huggies the best. we were lucky enough to have our church organize a diaper drive and they asked or preference. that has help with cost. I have also recieved some pampers and I to was disapointed.I found that target brand (cream colored loving touch to be almost as good as huggies. we use those during the day and at night the huggies supreme or regular. so far this has been working well.

I am hooked on the Especially for Baby brand at Toys R Us. We rarely have leaks, and they are made very well with cloth-like exterior and the Velcro tabs. I detest the tape tabs on some other generics - Ugh! They are normally $19.99 a case, and they put a LOT of diapers in a box. This works out to a great cost per diaper, which is the only way to truly judge the value of a sale. They go on sale for $15 a case every 3-4 months during the Baby Fair at TRU. I buy as many as I can fit in my van (about $250 worth) during those sales and restock the wall-o-diapers in my garage! For wipes I do like Pamers b/c one wipe goes a LONG way and I use less of them per clean-up job.
