#1069, "2 and 3 Bedroom Condo Vacation Lodging"

We stumbled into an option that provides inexpensive 2 and 3 bedroom Condo rentals. The condo rentals are about the only way we will be able to travel, as they allow all seven of us to stay in a single dwelling, have the facilities to prepare inexpensive meals for the family, provide a bit of space so we will not be on top of each other, and provide ameneties such as a open space to play, playgrounds, and a pool.
The next few paragraphs will give you pause, but I promise a great "hook" at the close.
Examples:
We hope to spend a 3 days here over the summer: http://www.wyndhamflagstaffresort.com/subjects/townhouse-tours/th-2b_loft.htm -2 Bedrooms with doors that close plus loft upstairs. Beds for 6. -Full kitchen with basic kitchen supplies. -Patio with table and chairs with hot tub.
For Thanksgiving 3 days here: https://www.wyndhamvacationresorts.com/ffr/popup.do?id=ASSC-0000309 https://www.wyndhamvacationresorts.com/ffr/member/resort/floorPlans.do -3 Full bedrooms -Full kitchen with basic kitchen supplies -Patio -1.2 Miles from Disneyland front gate. On Disneyland shuttle route.
Yes, these are timeshares. Yes, timeshares are a huge scam if you buy them like normal people.
How do abnormal people buy timeshares? Ebay!
If you had purchased this timeshare from ebay (210,000 points with an $80 monthly maintenance fee): http://cgi.ebay.com/Wyndham-210K-POINTS-Pagosa-Springs-COLORADO-Timeshare_W0QQitemZ260338107781QQcmdZViewItemQQptZTimeshares?hash=item260338107781&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A16%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 The seller is being honest when they claim the original owner paid over $30,000 for that unit.
You would pay $1,461 for the timeshare, closing costs, and three months maintenance.
Your maintenance fees for the rest of 2009 would be $80 x 9 = $720.
Your maintenance fees for future years would be $80 per month X 12 = $960
Our timeshare is for 189,000 points and our monthly maintenance fees are $61.
With that purchase, you would have enough points to book the pair of three night stays listed above and have enough points for an additional night or two.
These costs are less than renting a two room suite at a hotel. Do note the hotel rooms would not have a kitchen, dining room, or 1/3 the space.
Cautions: -Timeshare companies and related parties are the devil. By buying a timeshare, you are dancing with the devil. Do your homework before you buy anything! -There is a good chance the resale value of the timeshare will be $0. -Only buy into a system where you can drive to one or two resorts that you would enjoy visiting for the next 10 years. If you have to fly, you will not use the timeshare. -You will likely have to book the timeshare 6+ months in advance. Popular locations are simply never available, e.g. you will not get a room for a beach timeshare in the summer. The timeshare companies give first choice to people who pay $100,000+ for their timeshare memberships. If you are interested in a specific resort, PM me and I can do an availability search for you.

Wyndham Vaction Resorts https://www.wyndhamvacationresorts.com/ffr/index.do
We own with Wyndham simply because of the resorts within driving distance of our home. Wyndham made a few changes to their timeshare rules which have made resale prices plummet over the last few months. Look to the tug2.net forum for information on other providers.
