#366, "runabout receiver for minivan"
|
Just wondering if anyone has bought the receiver they sell for the runabout stroller. It attaches to the a hitching post. Is it easy to lift and connect to the car? Does it take two people to set up? Or any ideas on how to take it with us places, it does not fit in the back of our minivan. The product it $130. plus the cost of getting a hitching post put on the van. Thanks for any advice! Deana

HI Deana,
I do not have the hitch or or the RunAbout but did speak with a triplet mom who has both.
She said to consider two things:
1. She had to have the hitching post customized at a local welding shop to raise the stroller platform up a bit higher than where it is originally made to sit. She drives a minivan that sits low to the ground and any time she drove over bumpy or hilly roads the stroller platform would rub the road.
2. Also, check to make sure that your car fits into your garage with the post attached before you attempt to close your garage door. She learned the hard way that her car with hitch attached was too long. Therefore she has to take the hitch/stroller off everytime she drives home.
Best of luck to you!

Deana,
I modified a HitchHaul platform (WalMart $55) to carry our quad RA. It works great. I also purchased an attachment that allows me to fold the platform upright when we are not using it. This way you can still fit the car in the garage or parking spaces easily. If you are interested, I can dig up some pictures of the setup for you...
Regards,
John

We got the RA hitch and love it for long trips, or when we have a long day at the Zoo, ETC. DH always takes care of making sure it is secured and removed after returning home. When we go out he just removes it and puts it in the back. He loves it and says it is easy enough I could do it alone. I just haven't got the guts to take all 3 out alone yet.
