#569, "Minivan Used or New"

hello, We are currently overseas and moving back to the states in June. We were plannig on getting a Grand Dodge Caravan new so it had the fold in seats. We can get 0% financeing but I was wondering about a used minivan. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions on where to look/buy? It would be ncie to pay less for a car than to deal with the new car sticker shock.

Thanks!

Hello!

We bought a new 2003 Kia Sedona. It has been great so far ~ 2 years. Currently the Kia is priced at $21K and $23K.

The 2003 Kia sits higher than the Caravan. We just went out of town and happened to rent a 2004 Kia. It wasn't quite as high as ours, but we still liked it. I don't know about the 2005 Kia's.

They have some nice configuration choices too. You can choose the bench seat for the second seat, or captain's chairs. We chose the bench seat because it allows easier access to the back seat. The back bench splits, so that you can take out one seat for stroller room. We also have the middle bench seat moved to fill the middle and passenger side. That allows for me to get into the van on the driver's side and reach the back. Otherwise, I would have to go on the other side.

We did purchase the lower end model because at the time, the upper end model only came with the captain's chairs. That has since changed. You can get either configuration with the more expensive model.

There is also a 10 yr, 100,000 mile guarantee for the van and it has a five-star safety rating.
