We replaced half our windows last year and did the remainer this year (exchanging the single pane w/ wood frames with double pane vinel). The boys were fooling around before school and broke the big picture window (glass is 54"x54"). At least it was one that was put in last year and not a brand new one.

And fortunately none of the boys got hurt. Only the inner pane broke, so we are still weather-tight, and the duck tape on all the cracks do look a little like a big spider web -- seasonally correct. I am going to have the boys make a big spider to decorate it. Waiting for the estimate, but we might go with tempered glass for safety this time.

Dw told the boys that paying for the new glass might impact what we can afford to get them for Xmas -- that certainly made an impression on them -- something they could relate to besides "This is going to cost a lot of money!"

In other news, I actually took a day off yesterday from parenthood and went off to the redwoods by myself and photographed -- nice to recharge, and who knows -- I might have even go a good photo or two!
