We had a great weekend. The Boys and I, along with a good friend and two of his grandsons (and his ex-son-in-law) spent two nights along Redwood Creek (Redwood National Park).

Unfortunately one of the grandsons (11 yrs old) smashed his finger between a couple of rocks late in the first day. Very painful and he lost his finger nail and deformed the tip of the finger. He and his dad walked out the second day to drive home while the rest of us stayed the second night.

Despite the dramatic start, the rest of the trip was beautiful and the boys had a great time. It is really amazing to be amongst the tallest trees in the world and along an incredible creek. Foggy in the mornings (not all that far from the coast) with blue skies by lunch.

We all had fun swimming, jumping off rocks, exploring up side creeks, cooking marshmellows over the fire, and all that good stuff. Next summer we will have to head to the mountains -- perhaps a high lake in the Trinity Alps or the Marble Mountain Wildernesses. By then, the boys should be able to carry more than a sleeping bag and clothes.

I still have to unpack the backpacks, etc...slacker that I am!
