#1370, "Bedtime"

We are having a devil of a time putting our 2 girls (aged 3) down for naps and at bedtime. It has been miserable even since we split the triplets from all one room (with their brother) to now 2 rooms (he's down the hall and is fine). One girl pops up right away and bothers the other so neither can fall asleep. We've tried what the "Supernanny" says to just keep taking her back and putting her into bed etc., but this doesn't seem to work with multiples. We've tried taking the misbehaving child to our room and putting her into a "naughty" chair until she's ready to go to bed and fall asleep. We've tried reasoning with her "you need to do two things...stay in bed, and stay quiet" ...we also tried a rewards system of stars and stickers for staying in the bed the night before (she does not seem to care even though her brother and sister often get these rewards).....Any advice on this one? Thanks for your input.

Hello!

Nothing is easy...

Our three boys are climbed out of their cribs the same night, so I broke them down and hauled them to the garage (the cribs, not the boys...tempting as it was!) We put the crib mattresses on the floor until they were ready for toddler beds (basically until they showed that they could stay on the mattress all night.)

It may have been a couple months of sitting by their bedrooom door -- returning them to their beds -- before they finally got the message.

A few things that helped. We unscrewed the bulb of the ceiling light so that they would not get up and turn it on (the boys thought that the "battery was dead" for a long time!LOL!) Their bedroom had no toys to cause any distractions. And thirdly, we used that time sitting by their bedroom door to do some reading, which we usually did not have time for.

Good luck!!!

Sorry to pop in on the "Father's Forum" but I couldn't resist. Perhaps your trio are growing out of their naps? Ths might make bedtime (night) more successful...just a thought! Good luck.
