We had a very good Christmas. Not all my family could be with us for the first Christmas holiday in our new home, but my sister and BIL and their son could join us. The 800 mile drive was going to just be too much for my 86 year old parents.

The Boys and I continued our tradition of going up to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park on New Years Day. A bit rainy...but that is the way the Redwoods are suppose to be! After all, what is a temperate rain forest without rain

We waded down he creek, looking for salmon -- saw a Chinook over its redd (nest) in the gravels. We found a very recently fallen giant redwood laying over the creek and the boys climbed up the slope to check out the hole left when the rootwad was uplifted by the fall.

A very good day, and a good way to start the New Year.
