Since this is the section for men, I just want to say on this most important day of the springtime, "Play Ball".

(We're a long way from a Major League baseball stadium..... but today's the opening day for the season. The winters were so long as a kid in the northern part of the U.S.A. and couldn't wait to hear those two words at the beginning of April.)

We had the Little League Opening Ceremony yesterday -- all 3 boys playing (two different teams) for the first time. In fact their first official game is tomorrow -- and they play each other!

Other than that, I never really followed baseball (except when my best friend was pitching in the majors back in the 1970's). As a southern CA boy, I hit the beaches rather than noticed the coming and going of baseball season!

PS...while "dh" around on these forums usually means "dear husband" (or other "D" words depending on the circumstances), I like to think of it as "designated hitter"!

I am a DIE HARD CUBBIES fan and I am ready for this ball club to make another run at the WS! I am sure they will blow it again like last year, but who knows! This MAY be our year!

If someone doesn't like the Cubs, they must be from St. Louis.

They really were shelled in the big pre-season game to open the new Yankee Stadium, but the Cubs will be fine.

As for a World Series? They really need to bring a goat to the game every day for the season.... it's the only way to really break that curse!

But good luck to them. The Cubbies have nearly always been my favorite National League team..... (if the words 'favorite' and 'National League' can actually be uttered from within myself!)

My wife thinks it's a bit odd now that I'm a huge Twins fan.... with triplets on the way.

Well, obviously there aren't a lot of guys that come to this part of the forum.... but we can deal with that!

However, I was a bit embarrassed and felt a bit chauvenistic because I mentioned the baseball in the Father's Forum..... then I happened to read a blog from a mother of triplet boys who was also talking about the baseball season's opening day. What shocked me was just how many moms weighed in their opinions on the baseball season.... who will win.... and some even what the team's win-loss record will be at the end of the season!

Would we possibly survive in a matriarchal society ?!?!?!?

Even though my Phils are 0-2, I'm confident we can win the NL East again and perhaps even repeat. After the heartbeak of 93, and fifteen years of disappointment it was nice to finally have a championship parade!

I love the smells and sounds of baseball and can't wait to get back down to the ballpark again.

I was happy for the Phillies the past two seasons. That amazing comeback to catch the Mets two years ago, then last year's magical season.... it brought back memories of 1980 with Schmidt, Bowa, Carlton, and of course McGraw.

It always seemed like Tim McGraw was the luckiest kid on earth..... his dad was a famous major league pitcher, he became possibly the most well-known country music singer of his era, and he married Faith Hill. But when I look at my wife and we await our precious little trio that arrives in a few weeks.... I couldn't feel more blessed.

As for baseball, the responses on here have all been for teams that I like.... Cubs, Phillies and of course my team the Twins.

Would LOVE to see a Twins-Cubs or a Twins-Phillies World Series this year.
