#1620, "new trio on the way"

So my wife and I are excpecting triplets...2 girls and a boy.we already have a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy. She is 28 weeks right now. No major questions just thought id join in the forum and see what advice I can get.I supposed anything helps. One question i Am struggling with is a vehicle. Im torn between A suburban and an excursion. I need something I can haul around the whole family and still be able to pull my camper. which is about 5500lbs. I dont want a new car payment so im thinking between 2003-2006 models.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hello Tyler!

Welcome to the triplet life!

I can't help you with vehicle advice -- our minivan fits our needs so I have not looked into larger rigs.

Looks like 2010 will be a big year for you! We wish you the best!

Very funny....I am doing the same. Have been in the hospital for 4W and 2D with my wife we are 27W 2D as of today...been a tough go! I am constantly looking for the right vehicle...I am partial to the GMC Yukon XL as we have one and I outfitted it the other day with the (3) car seats and it worked out really well! I have a Toyota Prius that I need to get rid of and I am looking to replace it with a larger car...saw the Volkswagen Routan the other day...never thought in a million years I would drive a minivan, but that thing is great! Probably will buy another Yukon XL though...love that car....good luck!

I learn to drive in what might be considered the original minivan -- a VW bus (a 1969 in my case -- and only a couple years old). I guess that is why going to a '91 Grand Voyager, then a '03 Honda did not seem to be a big deal. The other vehicle I learned to drive in was a 1960 Dodge pickup. Going between 4 on the floor (VW) and 3 on the column (the p/u) would lead to interesting shifting mistakes.

Good luck with holding out for another month! We managed to go 28.5 weeks -- the boys were in the NICU for 8 weeks. Three tall healthy guys, now!

My wife was 800 miles away, staying with my sister and her family from her 24th week to the births (no sufficient NICU in our county, and a long way to San Francisco). She probably would have been put on bed rest if we had the boys now -- that might have stretched out a few more weeks. Everything seemed fine, then wham, it was time. I flew up on the next available plane and miss the births by 12 hours.

But bed rest would have driven my wife crazy -- much to active for that! It certainly was a lot less stress for me, being so far away and all -- but I would have liked to have been there.
