#1672, "AFLAC policy - MUST have, it's not too late"

My wife and I feel the need to return the favor of some great information we received on this forum last year.

We had just received the news that were going to be having triplets and one of the many thoughts that came to mind was of course, how will we pay for three new kids???

My wife found that someone had posted on this site the fact that they were fortunate to contact an AFLAC rep and get coverage that really paid off. We contacted the local AFLAC rep in our state and were told that since my wife was already pregnant, we would not qualify for a new AFLAC policy in our state.
We then turned to the person that was listed in the posting that my wife found:

Julie Kraus
Aflac Representative
805-529-8190 (phone/fax)
805-404-9157 (cellular)
julie_kraus@us.aflac.com

I called Julie and told her about our situation. Julie was able to get us an AFLAC policy issued in the State of CA as long as one of us traveled to CA and entered into the contract. Julie explained that CA state law on supplemental insurance allowed us to come in from out of state and enter a new policy agreement as long as we were in CA when he contract was executed/signed. Additionally, CA state law prohibits AFLAC from denying us a new policy on the basis that my wife was already pregnant. Our options were limited because she was already pregnant, but Julie was able to steer us into the right policies, and the payout was real and unbelievable.

I am not an AFLAC rep nor do I own stock in AFLAC or have any family member work for ALFAC or have any family member that has AFLAC stock. I am simply trying to pass along some information to the next family that finds themselves in our shoes.

Had my wife not stumbled across that posting last year, there is no question that we would be under water today. But because of Julie’s help, we are secure and ready for the years to come.

All I can say is give Julie a call, I think you will find it was worth the effort.

Sorry for getting a reply to this so late!

This is good info -- it would have been great for us 15 years ago! We were fortunate to have two separate health insurance policies -- from both our workplaces. Between the two of them, all but about $1000 was covered (incl 8 weeks in the NICU for three babes).

But some extra cash would have been wonderful!
