I have to brag about what I got DH for Fathers Day and ask if you guys think I did okay...

I got him a 1960's WORKING Aurora slot car set! I'm so excited because he occasionally looks for them on Ebay but complains that he can never find the old ones with the "pen" style control. Well I FOUND ONE! In the original box and everything is there! I'm just so excited about this!

Electric slot car track with small 2-3" cars operated with handheld controllers with speed control. Don't they still make these? Man I'm feeling old.

OH MY, if you feel old, just think how old you just made ME FEEL? LOL, ROFL.

Yes its a race car set. He was born in 1961, so had a few of them through the years, and was looking for one for nostalgic reasons. YIKERS, how young are you young fellers?

1972!! Gee you mean you missed the whole 60's thing?
1965 here, I see things that I was playing with starting to make their
come back. There have always had the slot racers around, you see a few more now than you did a few yrs back, but they just are not the same as the ones we had way back when, they seem a little cheaper.
Just like the saying goe's they just don't make them like they use to.
More the marrier, if that is what your DH is in to he should like it
expecially if it is as good as you say it is. You can't beat nistalgia. (sp)

'66 hear.

How about "Rock'em Sock'em Robots", anyone remember that one? It was always good to instigate a wrestling match with my brother as the game ended.

They still make the Rock'm Sock'm. They just don't make the same cool sound when you "knock their block off"lol.
I feel old too, I would love to have an old slot car set but I think the wife would say I have enough toys. At least pretty soon I'll have an excuse.

Great gift! I'm sure he'll love it, I would. If the tracks are rusted or corroded (which they probably are), tell him to use an eraser to lightly resurface the metal in the tracks and the metal contacts on the car. Have fun!

'64 here. I can remember a friend having a slot car track set up in his crawl space. We would be racing cars and then would go watch Speed Racer. Ahhh the good ole days!
