#773, "Special Gift?"

Our Boys will be here soon and was wondering if any of you guys out there gave your wife a little something special once the babies arrived and what it was. I would like to do something a little special without spending a lot of money, as most of you can understand I'm sure

Mark,
I was so brain dead the whole week everything was going on that I forgot to get her anything. The day it happened I was up at 5:30 am
for work and the kids were born around 3:00am the next day, so I was up for more than 24 hrs.
I think some flower, a card, some balloons would probably be good for her, just to show her you care (I feel like a heal, just not good at that stuff). Congrats and good luck.

I think you owe her a big ole diamond. I too had my head up my arse and never really thought about it. I didn't even really know that a gift for the wife was a common occurance. I have since learned so.....BUT when I talk to my wife about it now, she says that she really wouldn't have wanted me to spend a lot of money b/c we were spending so much on the whole "try-to-get-a-baby-try-to-carry-a-baby-try-to-raise-a-baby" phases. We dropped to one income and she was not wanting us to spend any money that didn't need to be spent.

So, if you are financially sound (are any of us?) get her something really nice. If not, get her something that has sentimental value. Just my opinion.

We received so many flowers, balloons and gifts from others, that I didn't even consider something from just me. Smiles, support and kind words may be enough. Gifts are always appreciated though!

My wife collects Precious Moments so I got her one of their larger pieces. I went with the sentimental.

Our triplets were born on March 8, 2003 and for mother's day I bought my wife a past, present and future diamond pendant. It has three diamonds one atop the other on sort of a stick. It wasn't cheap - but heck - after carrying my three beautiful children and giving me the greatest gift of all - don't you all think she is well worth it???

Just my two cents.

Mark,

Wait two weeks after the babies come home and give her sleep. Arrange to get her at least eight consecutive hours of sleep somehow. It will be worth more than a diamond to her....

Regards,

John

Mark, I got my DW a name bracelet from the link below (no connection...yada). I thought it turned out beautifully, although she hasn't been able to wear it much with the visits to the NICU. They don't allow any jewelry and DW doesn't want to lose it.

I've never posted here before - I hope it's ok guys!

I just wanted to give you an idea from a mom's point of view. There are these beautiful pendants being sold by a jewler in the Netherlands - a lot of moms on the main forum have talked about them. Here is a link to the site:
http://www.btenbrink-juwelier.nl/morelingpage.htm

I would LOVE to get one of these from my husband! They are so unique - something you don't see everyday. Just an idea!

By the way, I have all boys too - you are in for a great time!!! Good luck with the delivery and I hope all goes well!
