#1516, "'grown up' soap?"

Ok, this isn't the most interesting topic, I know - but at what age did you stop using the 'baby soaps' (like Johnson's Head-to-Toe) and start just using the same soaps you use for your own shower? My concern is getting it in their eyes and drying out their skin. I think their skin is still so baby soft that I'd like to keep it that way. And, actually Nathan's legs aren't that soft even with baby soap, so adult soap might make them worse. I admit I don't bother with lotion for the most part, so I'd rather keep the baby soap than add another step to the bath routine. Thanks for taking the time to comment if you have something to say.

We just started using some adult soap...my hubby uses Lever 2000, so when our sons shower themselves, they use it. Our triplet son has just decided that he doesn't need me to help him shower, and since he is a big boy, he needs manly soap.

Our girls still use kid shampoos - our daughter with long hair just switched to Paul Mitchell since we were having trouble with hair breaking (bad mommy leaving "pretties" in her hair overnight)but for the most part, we use kid pert plus, and they like that.

The few times I have left a bar of soap within reach in the tub, they have gotten in their eyes which has been ugly...

We switched over to adult soap when they were really little. I don't remember exactly, but I think by the time they turned one year old or so. DH & I use Dove for Sensitive Skin, so that's what all my dds, ages 6, 4, & 3/3/3 use also. We've never had a problem with the soap getting in their eyes, but we constantly remind them not to rub their eyes because the soap will sting, so they're very aware of that. We still use tear-free kid's shampoo. -- Gloria

The boys are three, and we currently use the the foaming colored soap in cans. The boys love it, and it's still a little milder than bar soap or shower gel. I don't see a problem with using baby soap, there are times I've grabbed theirs if I'm out of shower gel.

The foam colored soap in cans is great fun; even I want to use it. I buy it every once in a while, but my girls have so much fun with it that it doesn't last more than a few days - lol! -- Gloria

The boys go through it quickly too, but our local dollar store has it, and I usually scoop up 10 or 12 cans at a time. I think it's worth every penny.

LOL! All of my kids bathe together so I still use baby bath wash in the tub. But we've used children's bath bubbles too. (Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder have made appearances in my bathroom...)My yongest has VERY dry skin-esp. in winter-so I try to really lather him up with lotion and/or baby oil. One of my DD's had that problem too-mild excema in the winter-so same treatment for her. Other than that, I've never really thought about it. HTH
