#16335, "Monday Updates, October 1, 2007"

Good morning, everyone. I'm going to skip questions this week because I'm fighting a cold. Too stuffy and dizzy to think of anything. Please feel free to post any questions you'd like to be nosy about or just an update!

I'm sick. Nothing horrible but I hate feeling this way. I'm tired and cranky. My kids had the same thing last week and they felt the same. Just an ordinary weekend, nothing exceptional. Kids had a bunch of homework. Yards, laundry, etc. My older son did community service hours (part of high school graduation requirements) at a local breast cancer 5 K run on Friday and Saturday.

Take care,

Sharon

Sorry you're not feeling well Sharon, I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Here's a question:

If you could take up a new career now, what would it be?

I'd like to study and go into landscape architecture.

Hope you're feeling better Sharon. If I could start a new career now, I think I'd finish what I started years ago, which was my masters in guidance counseling! Who knows, a few years from now, I might go back and finish up! I always thought that would be a neat job to have!

Hi Kim,

I would go into advertisting or anything that involved thinking creatively (or inventing new and exciting products).

Hope you start feeling better soon, Sharon. Colds are no fun. I have been battling my allergies the last couple of weeks and it has made me very cranky also (according to my DH! ) Life here has been just as busy as ever. Kolton is still playing fall baseball and DH coaches the team. The girls do piano and art lessons. I currently work as the office manager in DH's office, but have been trying to get out! LOL I just took a part-time job at the local hospital pharmacy. I'm looking forward to starting something new. This weekend was the first of deer season here and Kolt got a doe on the opening day. He was pretty excited. DH actually let him skip school to go hunting with him all day today. Crazy huh? DH emailed the school and told them he had an appt with Dr. Hunter! You think they will get it??? LOL Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi Sharon et. al.,

I hope you feel better! Make your kids wait on you!

It was a really hectic weekend for us with extracurricular.

I was glad when Sunday night rolled around!

Have a good week/end,

I would open up a muffin shop.......just open in the mornings though. I am a morning person anyway, and I love to bake!

Seriously, if I could be anything, I would be a SAHM. I want to volunteer in my kids' classrooms and help with reading programs and social events and the book fair. I am lucky in that I work at my kids' elementary school, the same hours they go to school, so it is IDEAL, but I am a teacher and will have to go back to teaching (I am an aide now) and the ridiculous hours that come with that way too soon. First I need to finish a master's degree . . . I am looking at couseling.

Get well soon, Sharon!!!

Saturday was a beautiful day...sunny and no wind. Calder and I were in a boat race (paddles only). We raced our two-person kayak for 2.5 miles around the island in the Bay during the Humboldt Bay Paddlefest. Proud to say that there were two boats still behind us when we crossed the finish line. Calder got a prize for being first in his age group (12 or younger) -- but then, he was the only paddler in his age group.

Sunday was wet, but we went back down to the Paddlefest to watch the cardboard boat race. Contestants (in teams) have an hour to build boats from cardboard and packing tape -- then paddle/race them around a bouy in the bay and back to the dock. We wanted to check out the designs so that our family can enter as a team next year! The "Humboldt Honeys" won...they'll be tough competion next year for the ABC Boys!!!

PS -- forgot about the job question...no, I like what I do now...would not change a thing (unless I could wish for more pay?LOL!)

Sharon,
Hope you're feeling better soon. Allergies and colds are awful b/c there is little you can do to expedite your way to wellness.

We're deep in sportsmania. I actually dream of goals and rushing to practices. LOL We have soccer literally 7days/wk now; cross country 6 days/wk. Music, theatre, and beginning gymnastics again. Have mercy...! I don't have a life--too busy being an underpaid taxi driver
If I could redo my career choices, I would become a meterologist. Totally geeky, but find it fascinating!! Didn't realize it was an option two decades ago.

Sharon - I hope you are feeling better soon. it stinks being so down and out.

As far as a career - I second the notion of being a SAHM! Actually my dream is to do my job (outpatient psychotherapist)12 hrs a week, and have the rest of the time to devote to sahm! I love my job but love being a mom/homemaker more.

We had a great weekend. DH and I went away for our anniversary and just had a wonderful time - beautiful hike, dinner etc. One of those times where everything just works out perfectly - I sooooo appreciated it and realize we need to try to do that more often. Plus my Mom watched the boys and things went well ( I was a bit nervous as she can get overwhelmed easily). Plus she cleans and does laundry!

Have a great week - it is gorgeous fall weather here - 60's and sunny!

ugh, I always get a cold with the change of seasons. Did yuo get any pampering??

believe it or not, I wouldn't change my profession - I actually enjoy it. I'm a tax accountant - sounds boring, no? But I enjoy it. However, when I retire, I'm going to start acting. I want to be the crotchety old neighbor in ever episode of Law & Order. Actually, I'm thinking of doing some communtiy theatre. I used to act a lot when I was younger - I really enjoy it.

Hi Sharon
I hope you are feeling better soon. I am suffering from seasonal allergies and haven't been feeling up to par. Plus I am pulling late hours at work so I am exhausted.

A girlfriend and I went to a wellness spa this past weekend. It was the first time in 2 years that we have been able to get away and we had a great time.

We are busy with soccer, piano, dance etc. etc. My DD just tried out for the Nutcracker and our weekends will soon be filled with extra dance practice. This is her first year and she is very excited.

As for a career change - a college professor - I love to teach - just not children. Or perhaps I would study chinese medicine, Dao Yin or yoga and teach classes a few days a week.

Have a great week

Hi Ya'll,
I'm an infrequent poster on the triplet forum and decided I could probably graduate to the veterans because my trio will be 5 in december..geesh...where does the time go?

Anyway, I just got over that nasty cold bug last week. I always get it with the change of season...bronchitus like...lost voice, felt like i was swallowing nails and coughing up who knows what. I got some herbal tussin tea from the store, added honey to it, works like a charm!

Boys are doing good, oldest in Kgarten and younger in Pre-k. Everyone is in the groove with school so same old same old. Oh, but my husband was nominated for two Emmy awards with the local chapter and the award ceremony is this saturday. Wish him luck! I got my dress last night at Macy's for 75% off! It was $20! It is so beautiful and I am so excited. I feel like I am going to prom.

When I grow up...or had a million dollars.....I would like to either open a sleepy little rare book store or go back to working in the theatre doing lighting design.

emmy - how exciting! but a dress for $20 at Macy's, even more exciting!! Sorry, but I live for a good bargain.

Liz, you can do my light design while I act. I've never wanted to "lead" parts, I love the offbeat, oddball sort of characterst that make an impact without being the protagonist of any sort.

I was Aunt Eller once in a production of Oklahoma, suited me to a "t".

If I could afford all the right gear since I would be starting from scratch, I would like to be a professional photographer. Vaughn has inspired me as well as others that take prof. pics on this site. I've dabbled a little taking pics of my kids, but always wanted them to turn out better and more professional looking.

Of course my dream job before I had kids was to work as an x-ray tech for a pro football team.
