#17048, "IPOD/MP3"

Hi everyone! I have an IPOD....my eight-year olds (BBG) have put an IPOD on their Santa list. They do not have any more refurbished ones. My husband thinks we should just get them MP3 players...I just want something to put some songs on...Any suggestions out there? I really like my IPOD... Thank you so much.

Any experience with an IPOD shuffle?

I would tend to agree with your husband for eight year olds. My boys are bad to put things down, and not remember what they did with it. I would say they are "temporarily lost", and usually show up again. I don't know if your kids are like this, but that might play into your decision, too, as to how much you are willing to spend. An MP3 player would be so much easier to upload songs than having to have multiple itunes accounts. Also, many MP3 players have radios, if they like to listen to the radio.

I have a nano that was given to my husband a few years ago. I enjoy it, but I can't say that it is any better than the MP3 player I had before, and the MP3 player had a radio.

I am getting my guys MP3's for the same reason - I do not know how great they will take care of/keep track of them and I do not want to freak out if they get lost. The Sandisk was recommended and you can find them for $30-40. Good luck

I just bought a Zen V last summer at Target. Works great and tons cheaper then an IPOD. All I needed mine for was music while I worked out.

Mine are 9 and they are getting MP3 players. Toys R Us has 1G ones on sale for $24.99 right now (3 different colors of course). I think that is all they really need at this age. They are on sale online as well.

Santa brought my older dd an IPOD last year when she was 8 yr old and she has been very responsible with it. I personally like the IPOD also. I guess the question is how responsible are your children?

We purchased our 3 MP3 players when they where 8, with the intention of upgrading to IPODS when they where a bit older, providing they looked after the first ones.

So far they haven't lost them and they do still use them. So this year they will get the IPODS.

Hi MPB,

Last Christmas, my dh gave me the Zune. I absolutely LOVE it!
I highly recommend it!

I have heard good feedback about the IPOD Shuffle as well.

Happy holidays,

7mozz

For your daughter you could get her a Sandisk Sansa. On buy.com the pink is only 19.99. Here is the link: http://www.buy.com/prod/sandisk-sansa-m240/q/loc/111/206206100.html
