#1870, "Kindergarten Roll Call"

I thought it might be fun to start a Roll Call for this school year. It seems like alot of our HOM's & singles are starting Kinder this year and I thought it might be fun to 'connect' with other moms who are sending their kids off into the 'real world'! I'll start....

School starts 8/23...that's 2 weeks!!!!!
My gbg trio are 5.9yrs, b-day 10/29/98
They will attend ALL DAY Kinder (8:50-3:20)
Seperate classrooms/teachers
Bus transportation provided
They attend a Montessori school, and this is their 3rd year there!

I'm looking forward to Kinder, but I expect to be very busy. I work-at-home, am a Room Mom for ds classroom and I plan on trying to attend ALL their field trips, plus I'll be picking them up from school to avoid the long bus ride home...with the older kids, kwim? But I'm really looking forward to watching my little babies bloosom!

Anyone else......

Great Idea!

-School starts Aug 17. Early dismissal that day so no PM Kindergarten that day (ours will probably not start til the 18th)
-My GGG are 5.3 yrs old
-They will attend 1/2 day (8:15-11:15am or 12:35-3:35pm)
**We live in town so more than likely they will be in the afternoon class. They usually have the bus kids in the mornings. School will let us know this week if AM or PM
-They will all be in the same class per request from us at least for this year anyway.
-This will be their first year at this school, 2 yrs of previous preschool were somewhere else.

I'm excited for them. They can't wait to go to their brothers school. I'm really hoping that people & others kids will get to know them more as individuals now & not just "the triplets" Tons of feelings are running around in my head. Are they really ready? Will they fall behind before the end of the year.? Of course, everyone has assured me they will do fine. (preschool teacher, 2nd grade teacher friend, kindergarten screeners) I guess I just don't get to see them in the environment that they do. KWIM?

I won't be gaining too much more free time with it only being 1/2 day kindergarten, so I'm sure to be busy most of the time doing something! At enrollment, the teacher asked me if I was ready for them to go and I answered "yes, but are YOU ready?" Our small town school has never had triplets before so this is going to be an experience for all of us!

My "babies" are still 4 (5th bday in 2 wks). They begin ALL-DAY kindergarten tomorrow!!!!!!

I have been crying uncontrollably for days They are excited and I am happy for them and myself, but it is sad to see such a chaotic chapter in our lives disappear in the blink of a good-bye. I am mostly sad for the days that I wished I could enjoy, but was too busy frantically chasing five preschoolers... Now, they are semi-independent and are such fun children.

But, back to the topic...all my Peanuts begin school tomorrow.

They are split into 2 classes with one son being in his own class and my daughter and other son together (my request and they were split like this last year in pre-k)

Ours were 5 on 5/8 and start on the 25th (pm kinder here). They'll walk to the school and are very excited, but a little said since we just got back from great-grandma's funeral and Auntie (their stand-in grandma since my mother is deceased) will no longer be able to make the trip from MN to IL for the first day. They are happy to be in the same class this year.

My trio was 6 in May but will be attending kindergarten this year after a year of Developmental Kindergarten last year (it's the "norm" to hold kids back a year here).

This year they are attending all-day alternate day -- all day Tuesday and Thursday along with Friday afternoons. They will be in the same class - probably for the last year (we don't have enough kindergarten class choices to seperate them) They are so excited about taking their lunch. They can ride the bus but since we're almost always running late I end up driving them most days.

Oh yeah, we don't start until August 30 so I still have 3 more weeks before my freedom returns!

Kinder starts September 8th. It's all day from 830am to 230pm. The kids went the same time for preschool so they are used to the school and time. We are seperating them this year so they will have their own teachers and friends. They get to see eachother on the playground and lunch. We are also trying out the YMCA afterschool program for them to play and try new things. They will go there 230pm to 415pm. This is on the same campus. We get to walk around the corner to school, so no bussing.

I wish they had the same teacher. I can't even imagine the work ahead of me on top of the boys, school, working full time, my mulitples club and now more school things for them. Geesh! What if they want to try basketball or karate this year....

How do all these families fit everything in? Alteast we still have a good 4 weeks left of summer break!

This is a great idea/topic! Our boys are 5 years and 10 months old, and they start Kinder. next Mon. 8/16! I'm excited, but sad at the same time. Is that possible?? The boys are getting excited, but a little anxious too. They will all be in one class together.

We've bought all our supplies and have orientation to "Meet the Teacher" this Thurs. They will be going all day 8am to 3pm. Now I'm wondering what I will do with all that time.... I used to have all these plans, but now I think it may be a bigger adjustment for me than them!

My trio is 5y 9 months, and they start tomorrow (yikes!!). They will be in separate classes at our request, and they all seem very excited about it (we hope it will work out well). They will attend from 8am to 2:45pm, but since we do not live within the school district, I will be driving them to and from school. We have done the "meet the teacher day", bought supplies, and already have backpacks ready... Now, the challenge will be to see if we can actually get 4 kids ready, fed, lunches packed, and out the door by 7:45...

I am excited about this milestone, but also a little nostalgic about my "babies" growing up. At least I will still have my little one hanging around for a couple more years. I am also surprisingly nervous... I know it will be busy with school, plus I am supposed to start working a little more regularly (still part-time, but just not as flexible), and just hope to be able to continue to "keep it together".

Good luck to all of you.

Hi Everybody! What an exciting and nervous time...for the moms that is Ha Ha Ha. My three(GBB) turned five last April.
-School starts Aug. 24
-They have AM Kinder (they will be home by 12:30)
-They want to go on the bus, mom is thinking taking them to school and letting them come home on the bus...there will be just kids their own age on the bus home. Then if I drop them off in the morning I can go to work
-They will be in the same class this year

Just out of curiosity...is there any things "special" that you are doing to mark this special time? New outfits for the first day and so on? Where does the time go? It seems just like yesterday we were bringing them home from the hospital.

They will be 5 in December(GGB) and are going half day am kindergarten. So far, they want to take the bus but we'll see if they actually get on! Good luck to everyone!

Well, my girls turned 5 on July 31 of this year, but I am homeschooling.

I have to admit, I am slightly jealous at the thought of the extra freedom!

Enjoy a day out for me, okay!

My boys will be starting kindergarten on August 23rd. I'm a little excited, but also sad. I didn't think I would cry, until I cried at their preschool graduation. It is just hard to believe my babies are growing up so fast!

Amy,
My singleton starts Kinder this year! He starts in approximately two weeks. He will go all day.
He starts in a new school (Catholic). His siblings will also be in the same school (different grades).
I sure envy you with that bus transportation provided! I wish we had that here!
Congrats to all the BIG Kinders!

The school system is different over here. My kids have been in full time school since last september (reception class) and are now going into year 1. They start wearing proper shirts and ties when they go back on 6 September, and they'll look soooooo grown up. They'll be 5.6 years when they start back. They do 8.50-3.15.

Hi,

It's been quite a while since I last posted

My kiddos start all day kindergarden on August 23rd (8:05-3:20 pm). They will stay together in one class. I am so excited because our little town has a brand new school, ready next week. Huge, new, and wonderful!!!

I am so excited (and sad that they are growing up so fast) for them.

My trio started kinder already, on Aug. 2!! We have year-round school here. They are in the same class, ride the bus the 3 blocks, since they think the school bus is SOOO cool, and have a wonderful teacher. They absolutely LOVE it so far, and but for a few misty-eyed 'where are my babies?' moments as they climb up the school bus steps waving and hauling too-big, mainly empty backpacks, I'm doing fine too. Just can't believe they're growing up!
Happy school daze to all!

at our request, all 3 will be in the same class. There are only 2 classes and last year we seperated ds from his sisters and it was a disaster. Poor thing didn't make any friends and had a miserable experience. We figured that they are still young. Besides, 1st grade will have enough classrooms to seperate the 3 of them.

Each one of them picked out their own backpack and special outfit to wear for the first day. For some reason, they all want to wear uniforms! Having experienced 12 yrs of plaid skirts and kneesocks myself, I'm sure that they don't know what they are saying!!
