#20901, "Room Decorating for Boys-Football theme"
|
Ok, calling anyone with great design skills. We're about to redo my boys' room (they'll be 7 in Jan.) They really want it painted like a football field and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that.
I have one big wall and the other three really won't factor in: window/bed/closet.
I had been planning on using earth tones and accessorizing with football stuff but they keep talking "football field".
So, any input would be appreciated. We can't go with just one team bc we have several faves: Broncos (our home team); Cowboys (dh's team); Patriots & Dolphins (boys fave teams - well, for now anyway).
TIA.
Marie

Green wall with white "yard line" stripes. Do it 1/2 way up so it's not too overpowering. Paint the top 1/2 sky blue....maybe add some puffy clouds if you feel artsy. Or keep it beigy/off-white on top.
Also if you are artsy, you could paint goal posts, in perspective at each end of the big wall. Make a "scoreboard" poster, using the local HS football team, or one of your family favorites. Or make up a team name with your last name. Of course your team would be ahead.
Let each child choose his favorite team and get a poster or some sort of memorabilia (pennant, etc) to place over his bed. It will help define HIS space and still keep with the theme.
Change knobs on dressers to footballs or team related. You could get stickers for the team, put them on cheap wood knobs, then use clear coat over them to protect.
Those Fathead (I think that's what they are called) wall stickers are pretty cool- not sure if they would leave it alone. I think my 6 and 8 year olds would peel them off.
You might be able to find a throw rug that is like a football field or has footbals on it. Might be hard to find "football" exclusive. MonsterMom6 10 year old ^b^ b twins @ 30w5d (1 survivor) and 8 year old gggg quads @ 32w0d

A friend did this on one wall and left the others beigy/neutral. Put up pennants on the neutral walls. She wasn't finished putting furniture back in when the picture was taken.
This wall is directly across from the door.

Your idea is exactly what I had in mind - football field at chairrail & below w/blue above, I'm just having a hard time picturing how it will look with the blue. Your friend did a great job on her lines and numbers.
Sharon, Believe it or not I have two football field rugs and one Dallas Cowboys football field throw. My boys play on these daily with their miniature football helmets (I think we have over 100 btw the entire NFL and the college teams we have).
Keep the ideas coming & thanks for posting the picture!
