Happy New Year! The first post of the New Year!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday break from school.

1. Did you do anything special over the past two weeks?

2. Are you holiday decorations down and put away?

3. Do you make any New Year resolutions? If so, care to share?

4. What was your favorite part of the holiday season?

5. Anyone else on a big decluttering adventure to start the new year?

We just got back from a 4-day trip to Seattle. While it was cold, we had no rain and never used our umbrellas. Watched the fireworks off the Space Needle on New Year's Eve. Loved the good food. Great tour of the Boeing factory.

The boys go back to school tomorrow and I can't wait. There's so much that I need to do and it can be done IF the boys aren't here.

I'll answer my own questions this week while I'm thinking of it!

1. Did you do anything special over the past two weeks? We hosted Christmas dinner. It was small, just family. Funny to say there were JUST 10 of us. LOL!Yup, m

2. Are you holiday decorations down and put away? Yup! Since we were going on vacation and didn't want to come back to more work, the decorations came down on the 26th. In face, we ordered a new artificial tree for next year so we just threw the old, dilapidated tree away! It feels so nice to have our house back. I love decorations right after Thanksgiving. By Dec. 26th, I'm ready for my house to return to normal.

3. Do you make any New Year resolutions? If so, care to share? After my health scare, I just want a healthy year for the family. Of course, the standard "lose 10 pounds" is an oldie but a goodie!

4. What was your favorite part of the holiday season? Loved seeing friends, sleeping in, and not dealing with schoolwork.

5. Anyone else on a big decluttering adventure to start the new year?
I have cleaned out my closet and have 2 bags for charity pickup on Tuesday. My dh is on a roar today and is cleaning out the entry hall closet and the pantry. Tons more stuff to give away. I also pruned out the Christmas decorations. Less is more!

Have a great week.

1. Did you do anything special over the past two weeks? Just spent as much time together as a family.

2. Are you holiday decorations down and put away? Dh took the tree down today. I informed him that he is in charge of taking down all of the decorations this year. After all, I put them ALL up!

3. Do you make any New Year resolutions? If so, care to share? I need to get back into my workout routine. I haven't done much since the beginning of December and I notice a difference. My once firm bumm is turning into a pancake butt. Yuk!

4. What was your favorite part of the holiday season? Parties!

5. Anyone else on a big decluttering adventure to start the new year? MAJOR purge going on in this household! I organized and wiped down the laundry room today. For the next two weeks I am doing one room per day. I want to get my house as clutter free as possible so that dsil and my mom don't think I am a total slob when they take care of the kids while dh and I are away.

The kids head back to school tomorrow, with the exception of Katie. She is off until end of March/beginning of April. Dh goes back to work tomorrow also. Good thing because he was really starting to get on my nerves.

Our dear neighbors gave us a wonderful gift! A cleaning service! I will not have to worry about cleaning my house until Katie goes back to school! Do you know how nice that feels?! I can just focus on Katie and nothing else. Our neighbors even have a schedule worked out for meals.

On a very sad note, a friend of dh's lost his wife on Thursday. She was ill for quite some time, but it still came as a shock. She leaves behind two children. They are the same ages as our kids.

Have a great week everyone!

I'm sorry to hear about your dh's friend. That is so sad.

I've subscribed to Katie's Carepages. Thank you for putting together such a nice page for everyone to keep up with her progress. I hope her sinus infection is all cleared up and can't wait to see pictures of her new haircut!

Enjoy the cleaning service. What thoughtful neighbors!

1. Did you do anything special over the past two weeks? Lots of rain, but between rains the boys and headed to the beach -- they always came home wet from playing in the waves. Also took the boys to the redwoods on New year day (a tradition) to check out the salmon. Again, we all got a bit wet, wading up the creek in the rain -- it was beautiful...the redwoods are meant to be seen in the rain!

My sister, BIL and one of the nephews showed up right after Christmas and we had a great time.

2. Are you holiday decorations down and put away? Yep!

3. Do you make any New Year resolutions? If so, care to share? Nope!

4. What was your favorite part of the holiday season? Kids home, no homework, basketball practice for two of the boys (I get to help sometimes!), and general good times.

5. Anyone else on a big decluttering adventure to start the new year? Finally getting around to getting the garage in order from our move (6 months ago!) Got to make room for the new ping pong table! We also had a big work week-end and cleared out the area behind the garage (was a mess of branches, roots and blackberries). Got it ready for three fruit trees (species still to be determined -- probably cherries and an apples)!

Vaughn

1. Did you do anything special over the past two weeks? Nothing too special, just time with friends and family nearby.

2. Are you holiday decorations down and put away? Yup, had them down right after Christmas so they would be out of the way for the New Year's party

3. Do you make any New Year resolutions? If so, care to share? None

4. What was your favorite part of the holiday season? I like the build up to it, but I also like putting it all away afterwards.

5. Anyone else on a big decluttering adventure to start the new year? Yes
