#21032, "Monday Updates, January 26, 2009"

Hello, everyone. It's the last update for January. The month is flying by.

We had a quiet weekend. My dh took "B" out for the day. It was part of his Christmas present. They flew down to San Diego for the day and went on the tall sailing ships for the afternoon. "B" is enthralled with old sailing ships and had actually researched the whole trip. There was a cannon ball battle between two of the old ships. DH and b both had a great day.

I stayed home with the remaining three. I'm actually all caught up with my laundry. My oldest is studying for finals and my two little guys have two tests today. So lots of school work on Sunday. My "S", who belongs to a rock climbing team, came in both 1st and 2nd in a competition on Saturday. It was a tough climb all afternoon but he did a great job.

Here are a few questions to get us going.

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate?

2. How often do you buy a new car?

3. How much is gas in your area?

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday?

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert.

Have a great week!

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate? no

2. How often do you buy a new car? when it's time to get the old vehicle towed to the junk yard, lol!

3. How much is gas in your area? $1.96, last time I filled up.

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday? No.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert. A weekly stop at Starbucks for my skinny vanilla latte'. An occasional brow wax and pedicure.

I went back to my weight lifting class today. OMG, I am already sore! Tomorrow, I am SUPPOSED to start kick boxing, but I think I am going to give my body a rest and just do the elliptical. I don't want any injuries right now, lol!

Other than that, just hanging tight until Katie has more labs drawn.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert. My nails, I have them done every 2-3 weeks

It's cold here again....back to winter after having 60-70s last week. Everything else is going along swimmingly.

I got the basketball hoop up on the garage this past weekend...only took me a half of a year!

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate? Semi-big together.

2. How often do you buy a new car? One new car in the past 21 years of marriage.

3. How much is gas in your area? $2.20

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Is it this week-end? I find it a great time to go somewhere since everyone else is at home watching the tube.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge -- a couple pints of beer at the local micro-brewery...and perhaps some buffalo wings. Less than once a month, but it is a nice treat.

we don't do every year, but have always done together when we do. DD wants a sleepover this yr, so we may do sep since they haven't had a party in a couple of years.

>2. How often do you buy a new car?
we always buy used. No way we could afford new - every 4-5 yrs or so.

>
>3. How much is gas in your area?
it was $1.69 yesterday
>
>4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday?
nope, but I am sure all the males in my house plan to watch. We usually go to my friends house (HUGE TV) - but haven't made any definite plans yet since she just started a new job

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate? We don't do big parties- it is not done in my part of Japan.

2. How often do you buy a new car? We are on our 10th year with our 'newest car'. When our next car inspection (at an average of $1500) is due in two years, we will get a new car.

3. How much is gas in your area? The equivalent of $4.50 a gallon.

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Nope.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert. I like good, strong coffee so I splurge on the good beans every so often.

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate?

We have done a big party every year for our triplets (but not our singleton ). They have been together every year except one (age 9) - my daughter wanted a "Justice for Girls" party and my sons had a Star Wars sleep over.

2. How often do you buy a new car?

Every 5-7 years.

3. How much is gas in your area?

$1.89

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday?

I hope not but hubby is making plans.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert.

Pedicure once every few months

. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate?Yes,usually one big party for al 4 or they each get their own party.

2. How often do you buy a new car?Umm I bought a new mini van when I was expecting the triplets and decided after 6 months and 4 12 hr road trips that it wasn't big enough for us.
So once in my life and I prob won't do it again.

3. How much is gas in your area? both our cars are diesel it is 2.25

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Not yet, prob go to my sisters.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert.I am adicted to MC'd's sweet tea.I will stop and get one on the way to work a few times a week.

Working from home today and prob tomorrow. We just got about 6" of snow and are expected to get ice in a few hours....FUN FUN.
Liv is very sick,I had her to Dr yesterday for chest Xray. They suspected pnemonia, but it came back clear. She is one her 3rd antibiotic in 6 weeks. It is hard for me b/c my kids are rarely sick.
Emma is sick..boncitis that she has had since Christmas just won't go away.
Ian is getting a bad cough and isn't happy about it at all.
Amber wants us all to stay 10 ft away from her cause she can't stand to be sick.
I am trying to get caught up on work and house stuff at the same time and I just feel like I am not getting anywhere with either so I quit house stuff and will concentrate on work today and house tomorrow.

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate?
We do "big" parties every year. I don't mean wildly expensive but themed parties at home when they were little and event/game/pool parties as they got older.
Since our triplets are all girls, and they share most of the same friends, we have always done them together. Sometimes I make 3 cakes, sometimes a triple layer but usually just a cake that goes along with the theme.
All friends parties stop at 13 for us. I only have one more to go!!

2. How often do you buy a new car?
About every 10 years. We save up and pay cash.

3. How much is gas in your area?
About $1.85

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday?
Usually we have some people over but I didn't remember the date so I am working that night.
Maybe my son will go to a friends house for the first half. The girls only watch the commercials anyway.

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert.
Sadly no. I guess i could count the 1 or 2 days a month I forget all housework and spend the day in bed reading.

Sorry, I'm a little late...LOL

We had a busy weekend. Our dryer broke and I had to go to my 12 loads of laundry at the laundrymat.

Here are a few questions to get us going.

1. Do you do big birthday parties every year for your kids? Together or separate? My kids have a party together.

2. How often do you buy a new car? We have two cars (soon to be three i guess with the 15 year old about to drive) We try to only have 1 carpayment at a time.

3. How much is gas in your area? $1.75

4. Any plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Church and then home to watch I guess...

5. Do you have a favorite splurge that's just for you? Doesn't have to be expensive, i.e. special shampoo, coffee on the way to work, a decadent dessert. I don't do too much for me other than keep my facebook going. I don't get much private time.

We had a big ice storm here in Dallas and the last two days have not been fun commutes to the office...Texas weather. 20 one day and today it well on its way to 60 I think.

Lisa

Hi everyone.

1. Did parties for the kids over the years, but now we just get together as a big family and go out to dinner. That includes whatever girls are in the picture at the moment. I did have to do a DQ cake for this last birthday. It was requested.

2. I like to buy a new car as we get the other one paid off. Last time we bought cars though we bought brand new cars 2 weeks apart. We still own 3 at the moment.

3. Our gas has jumped up to $1.85ish.

4. I am planning on doing nothing much that day. I won't be watching the game, as I really don't care who wins. In fact, I just found out who was going to be playing in it this year. LOL

5. My splurge is Bath and Body Works products. I also like to have pedicures during the warm months.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. It is still way too cold here to enjoy doing much of anything. ICK! I hate cold weather.
