#2162, "1st day of preschool"
|
Well, the first day of preschool finally arrived. It was really nice. The kids were excited and I was happy for them and for the precious 2 1/2 hours I got to myself. We were a bit of a spectacle walking in (with 3). I heard the wispers, "they're triplets" that I'm sure you've all heard now and then. They went in and took their seats and I was surprised they all sat together. I kind of thought they'd break up, but I'll bet they do as the days go by. My kids don't tend to stick together when we're out say at a playground or something. They each made a friend (so they claim) and were proud of their "welcome" hats they made. I was proud that the teacher said they are 'very well behaved' because that's a comment I never get tired of hearing. I wonder if after their 3 days this week they'll be bored and miserable on the other 4 days per week they aren't in preschool. Tomorrow is story hour at the library and preschool, so they will be busy again which is nice. I hope to post some pics I took today, but since I don't have digital, I've got to get them developed and then scanned before I can post. Thanks for letting me share our exciting day. I hope you all had a nice day too.

Isn't it so nice to hear how well-behaved your children are. It always makes me feel like I must be doing something right. My girls sat together the first day of preschool too but within a week, they just went in and sat wherever. I doubt they will be bored on their days off. I found my girls wanted to do more things at home like they did at school like coloring, water color painting, playing w/playdough (which was banned in our house at the time, but I broke down and bought some), drawing, cutting w/scissors etc. It kept them busy for an hour or 2 on the mornings they didn't have school and gave them some practice too. Stockpile up on the paper! If I had a piece of junk mail with one blank side on it, I saved it for them to use. Who needs a shredder, let your kids practice cutting it up. LOL!
What did YOU do for those 2 1/2 hrs? I hope you treated yourself some relaxation and didn't clean the whole time Look forward to seeing some pics!

Don't you wish they behaved at home like they do public?? I know I do!!! I, too, love to hear from others when we are out and about. Something I never thought of before I had kids. Now I find myself talking to other moms of youngsters who are behaving and giving out compliments.
We banned playdough AND scissors in our house LOL! I do make the home-made playdough now and again for the youngest one. But scissors - I wish they kept their practice to paper! In the last two years I have had holes in clothes and two VERY short haircuts. The holes in the clothes was from one of my first graders last year IN school. I had to talk to her teacher and have scissors kept away from her unless supervised.
Congratulations on preschool. My DS starts on the 27th. He can't wait. Love'em all!! B,E,S g/g/g 12/96 @32 weeks R g 6/98 T b 8/00 D b 1/04

Today Emily did sit apart from the other two, and Nathan looked kind of hurt and said "Emily, over here." So I told him they didn't have to sit together and they can sit where they want to. He didn't seem upset by that.
As for me, I keep hoping to have some relaxation time, but other than time for lunch I'm still doing housework and errands mostly. I keep thinking at some point this Fall I'll reach a point where I can feel caught up (yeah right?) and relax a bit. Although, come to think of it, I did go for a run the first day before I came home, ate and did some cleaning. I am happy at this point to just do things with interruption.
Thanks for your input. I have been keeping up on your kids as well through your posts.

Glad to hear the kiddos had a great day at school. Don't worry about keeping them entertained every day. My kids thought our weekly trip to Costco was exciting. They each got a churro and a drink during the trip. Everyone needs some down time!
