#21675, "Games for Class "Fall" Party"

I'm planning one of my boys' third grade class party.

I would love to hear other room parents favorite games/crafts for kids this age.

FYI. Our party will be in the classroom.

Here are some of my favorites from my past two years as room parent.

1. Craft -- Decorate or paint a small pumpkin or gourd.

2. Games -- I need at least two or three:

1. Hand doughnuts on a string from a witches broom and the kids try to eat them withour using their hands.
2. Fall Harvest Bingo using candy corn markers.
Do third graders still like Bingo?

Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks, Melissa

This game can be played outdoors but can be adapted indoors by moving desks around the classroom to make room.

Pumpkin and Broom

Have 2 - 3 pumpkins about the size of a child's head. Divide the class into 2-3 groups (depending on how many pumpkins you have.

The goal of the game is to use a broom to sweep (push) the pumpkin through an obstacle course. Parent sets up a simple obstacle course using cones (or whatever you have around). Student #1 on each team uses the broom to push/sweep the pumpkin through the obstacle course. When he gets back to the starting point, Student #2 does the same thing. It continues until one team has had all the students go through the obstacle course and finishes first. This is great if you get the kids cheering each other on.

The pumpkin doesn't roll like a ball and it's harder than you think. Worth a lot of laughs!.

I did this for my boys in both 2nd and 3rd grade. A big hit!

Great idea! I was thinking about a similiar version using orange balloons instead of pumpkins.

Quick question. Did any of the pumpkins ever break?

Thanks,
Melissa

The pumpkins never broke! Just make sure you have nice sturdy brooms. You can try it out before hand. The balloon idea sounds fun, too!
