#21757, "Monday Updates - October 26, 2009"
|
I just can't sleep so I thought I'd start some Monday morning updates at 4:15 AM!
It's been a busy weekend. Checked out a local state college "Preview Day" with my oldest son. Very interesting. Had an appointment for all three little guys with the orthodontist on Saturday afternoon. Still a few more years of work ahead for 2 of my boys. I'm hoping one will be done late next summer but "A" will be getting his bottom braces in about 8 weeks. Then, we have 18 months ahead and a ton of oral surgeries ahead. Just lovely.
Sunday, "A" had his very first water polo tournament. It was so exciting and he had a great time! The weather was absolutey perfect - about 75 degrees and sunny.
Here are a few questions to get us going this week.
1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet?
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)?
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season?
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes?
Have a great week everyone!

Sharon, "orthodontist blues".....we spent years going to the orthodontist. We can now see the light at the end of tunnel: Jack is done. Elizabeth has braces off but will have wisdom teeth removed in December. Jessica gets bottom braces off in November.
1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet? $15
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)? rarely. not enough to count.
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season? not me. I had a very bad reaction to flu shot several years ago, and my doc told me not to get it again. The kids and DH had the reg flu shot. They will get the H1N1 as soon as available.
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes? older kids = no bother. They are going to a party. I'm going to my best friends house to hand out candy with her and DH will stay home with his mom to hand out candy. Our house only gets about 10 kids total.
So tomorrow I have to order the kids caps & gowns and graduation announcements. It keeps hitting me in waves that my babies are nearly grown. The girls got accepted to WMU. Jack hasn't applied yet...I have to get on him.

Wow! Graduation and college! My oldest is a sophmore and really has been soul searching as to what she wants to do. She LOVES children and is thinking elementary education. She is in a mentoring club at school and absolutely LOVES the days when she is in the elementary schools. one dd wants to be a high school English or History teacher. DS plans to major in Exercise Science and other dd is undecided. She feels like she should know what she wants to be. I told her not to stress about it. She doesn't need to know yet. Hopefully after her first year of college she will have a better idea. Trish Dawson Mom to bgg (1992 @ 31 weeks)

1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet? $40 or $50. I use my debit card mostly.
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)? Dh and I try to go out for dinner once per month. We do take-out a few times per month with the kids.
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season? Katie has received the seasonal flu shot. As far as the H1N1 shot....the triplets have H1N1 symptoms. They are pretty sick, absolutely miserable. Supposedly, the school district will be distributing them the first week of November. That is depending on supply. On the info sheet sent home, kids can still get the vac even if they have had symptoms. If the vac is offered as planned, we will be getting it for all four kiddos. We have had sooo many kids in our area hospitalized with complications. I am not taking any chances, just in case the triplets do not have H1N1 currently.
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes? Decorations are up, 2/3 costumes ready but no candy. I usually don't buy that until a few days prior, otherwise I eat it! LOL!
We have mice. Dang. Erin was watching tv in the basement family room and saw one run behind the entertainment center. Crap. Dh set up a few traps and so far we have collected 2 little mouse bodies. Mitch took a peek this morning and saw two traps laying upside down with little mouse legs hanging out. I HATE rodents, just HATE 'em! I swear if one of those little buggers make its way upstairs, I am moving out! They totally creep me out. As far as I am considered, our house is haunted, lol! Just in time for halloween!

Dd is supposed to be getting her braces off in December. She is absolutely ticked off at me right now. She was supposed to get them off in August but she is a difficult case (her ortho's words). She still has a slight cross-bite on her left side. It could be considered "good enough" and as far as she is considered it is. I had a consult with the ortho and we agreed that we were going to try an additional appliance. So, she had an expansion appliance for the summer. Now she is wearing bands to stabilize everything. She has my mouth and I do have a slight cross-bite on my left side. I wish my ortho would have corrected it completely.
We have to set up two more ortho consults for two of the triplets. I'll I can say is "cha-ching". And I thought infants were more expensive! "Just remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, but it takes action, perseverance, and facing your fears."-- Gillian Anderson

HI all - feels like an eternity since I have been on here! Looking forward to catching up with this week's responses.
1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet? very little - if I am lucky I have a few dollars.
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)? rarely - maybe a couple times a year
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season? I got the flu shot as it was required by work (health center) - have not gotten H1N1 as we have none and they just passed the "due to shortage, providers are not required to get one". I have been torn as I do not want to get it but the stories of severe cases make me nervous. We are being innundated (sp?) with patients with the flu.
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes? Have been behind this year as I was away 1 week (2 weekends!) - decorated but have not carved pumpkins as we missed our friends carving party that we usually do it at. Working on costumes. Friend was to have party Fri and just cancelled due to so many sick kids, and I am considering how much trick or treating we should do because of this. I usually love Halloween but this year it feels blah.
I am baffled this year with costumes - pretty easy for the most part as B wants to be his Dad - dress as a mountaineer with all the gear on, C wanted to be Sherlock Holmes, but I could not find the stuff so now he is going to be a robber, and S wants to be Groucho Marx for trick or treating and a pink flower fairy for school (a friend dared him to do this) - the last costume is the one taking all the time and creativity (not my strong suit!) and he will only wear it for 1 hour! UGH! He will get laughs which will make him happy
Hope all is well with everyone - enjoy the week Suzanne BBB 4/00

Hello on Wednesday morning! About 2:30 am and I'll here at the darkroom until the sun rises.
The boys lost their soccer game. They played hard. The officiating was, well, he was there. But he was fair about it - our team got away with as much (if not more) as the other team.
Re-watersealed the back deck. Ready for the winter rains, more or less. The boys and I will be driving to my parents during the Thanksgiving break. Looking forward to some SoCal beach time!
1. wallet? -- average of $40
2. How often do you eat out? once a month
3. flu shot -- Will be getting one.
H1N1 flu -- Don't know, based on availibity.
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Bryce with some help from his brothers made a scarecrow for the front yard. No candy yet. It has been a long time since I costumed up.

Hi Everyone,
One of the triplets came down with H1N1 at college last week. The HEalth Services Center is not even seeing people with the flu. The students are told to stay in their rooms. Crazy.
1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet? under $20
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)? Now that two are away at school about once every two to three weeks including takeout.
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season? No. Never was big on any vac they do not force you to get.
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes? Dec's are up. Lots of candy for my students and the trick or treaters. My youngest is going as a gangsta boy and my other college age kid said many of her friends are going as a certain very famous multiple birth couple....complete with eight American Girl Dolls.Hmm

Good Week to all,
Sharon I am soooo glad that we are done with ortho appointments. What a lot of running and bills!!!!
Water polo sounds fun. Hmmm, don't have that around here. I guess our answer to that sport would be hockey! LOL
1. I usually have an emergency twenty hidden in my purse. Maybe another $20.00-$30.00 and then about $6.00 in coins. The coins certainly accumulate fast.
2. I eat out every Friday with dh. I eat out every third Wed. with the girls. I eat out every first Thursday with the girls. Those are my set dates. Then there are always extra times in there. But I have cut way back on eating out since I lost weight. Restaurant food is just so bad for you.
3. I already got my flu shot about a month ago. I am still leery of the H1N1. I don't know if I will get one or not.
4. I bought my Halloween candy weeks ago but I haven't decorated yet. I feel like a huge Scrooge.

I feel your orthodontic pain. My trio is only 9. Two are in "phase one" braces to fix major problems as their permanent teeth are coming in. Their sis. is not far behind. I'm not even thinking about the twins & baby who (from a non-ortho mom) will surely need them as well. AHHHHH!$$$$$$$$
1. How much money do you usually carry in your wallet? None, always use debit
2. How often do you eat out (per month, per week, etc.)? once, maybe twice
3. Have you (or will you) received a flu shot this season? Have you (or will you) received a H1N1 flu shot this season? not yet, still hoping for them
4. Are you ready for Halloween? Decorations, candy, costumes? We're done. Going to the Elementary in a few minutes for the "parade." Two triplet girls are Velma & Daphne with baby as Scooby Doo. Rest are random
