#21837, "Monday Updates, December 7, 2009"

Good morning, everyone. It's officially December - our first Monday update of the month!

Our string of bad computer luck continues. My computer isn't fixed and I'm using a cobbled-together older computer for internet access. No printer. Huge hassle dealing with printing out the kids assignments since they tend to use my computer because it has internet access.

Here are a few questions to get us going this week.

1. How's your holiday season going? Have you finished your shopping? Have you finished your holiday cards?

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays?

3. What's the price of gas in your area?

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots?

5. Do you know how to sew?

Have a great week everyone!

I'll go first!

1. How's your holiday season going? Have you finished your shopping? Have you finished your holiday cards? We have rainy weather so it finally feels like winter here in CA. I'm not finished with the shopping. Two of my boys don't have anything on their list. Worried that whatever I decide won't make them happy but if they don't have any hints, they get what they get! LOL! I'm almost done with two of my boys, my parents, my niece. Still have some extras to get, plus baking to do. Sent out the first wave of cards yesterday with more to go.

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays? Since dh is self-employed, we take things easy during the holidays but always check in to see if there are any issues.

3. What's the price of gas in your area? It was $2.79 at Costco last week.

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots? My trio had the H1N1 at Halloween so they don't need the shots. My oldest son did get the H1N1 shot. My husband and I are still waiting for supplies to catch up. All six of us had the seasonal flu shots. With all the asthma in the family, they need the protection.

5. Do you know how to sew? No! And my son neededs jeans hemmed so I bought some Iron-on Fusing Web to try this week. I'm just not very domestic in this area.

Have a great week.

1. How's your holiday season going? Have you finished your shopping? Have you finished your holiday cards? My shopping, baking and decorating are finished. We are cutting the tree down this Sunday and I still have to wrap gifts.

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays? I only work 2 half days per week. We aren't open Christmas Eve or Christmas day, but we do see patients on New Years Eve. Dh has off all week!

3. What's the price of gas in your area? $2.59, I think.

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots? Oldest dd, youngest dd and myself have all had the seasonal vac. Other dd and ds are getting theirs right before Christmas. The H1N1 is still in short supply in our area.

5. Do you know how to sew? Roflmbo! I wish I could do more than sew buttons on a shirt!

Ds lost his beloved parakeet (Packer) this weekend. He was about to go to bed on Friday night and saw his little buddy sitting on the floor of his cage. I told him that we would just put a blanket over his cage until he dies, but ds wanted to hold him in a towel until he passed away. So, ds and I stayed up with him until he passed away, in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The triplets got him as a 4th bday gift, so he was about 8 1/2yo. He lived in ds's room and ds had him trained very well! I never thought that the death of this little bird would affect ds so much. He is so sad. It breaks my heart. I am so lucky to have such a sensitive and caring son! He's going to make a wonderful husband and Daddy some day!

Looks like we may be getting our first major snowstorm of the season in a couple of days. 10-12 inches of snow, blowing snow and then temps will drop into the teens. Oh joy. The kids are excited, of course. Dh better get the snowblower up and running, because I don't feel like shoveling a foot of snow on Weds in order to get to work.

1. Shopping: halfway done, not really motivated to wrap gifts yet
Holiday cards: nope, I usually wait until the last minute

2. I have 2 weeks off (same as the kids). Dh will probably take a few days off; he's really busy with a trial so it may end up being just Christmas Day and Dec. 27th (our niece's wedding)

3. I'm so bad. I never check the price of gas.

4. Yes to seasonal flu shots; no H1N1 shots yet

5. Yes, I can hem and do simple stuff like that.

Shopping is almost done but I know from experience it is never really done (those last minute gifts). We are taking holiday pics for cards tomorrow.

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays?

I will probably take off 2-3 days.

3. What's the price of gas in your area?

$2.59 reg. unleaded

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots?

Yes. We have all had both. I work in a hospital which vaxed employees and families. Otherwise it is in short supply here.

5. Do you know how to sew?

Limited. I have a machine and can do some basics. DD and I want to take sewing lessons.

1. How's your holiday season going? Have you finished your shopping? Have you finished your holiday cards?
I am not done with shopping but have a good start.
I am late with cards. As the kids get older it is hard to fine a day/evenng when everyone is home, clean and happy.

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays?
I only work part time and will work the 23rd and 27th,
My husband always tkes off the week of Christmas.

3. What's the price of gas in your area?
$2.51/gallon

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots?
The kids and I have gotten the H1N1 and my husband (who didn't qualify for the H1N1) got the seasonal. This is the first time the kids or I ever got a flu shot.

5. Do you know how to sew?
I can get by with simple things- curtains, costumes, repairs. Nothing with zippers, button holes etc.

Hi all

1. How's your holiday season going? Have you finished your shopping? Have you finished your holiday cards?
Going ok - even did most of my returns that I had to do - ugh! Just ordered my cards and will do our trees this weekend.

2. Do you have time off for work during the holidays?
I work 3 days a week - only work Monday of Christmas week but work M-T-TH the following week. This is a first as I usually take it off - but we are taking time in Jan so I opted not to. Will probably be slow at work though

3. What's the price of gas in your area?
2.75

4. Have you had seasonal flu shots? Have you had H1N1 shots?
the boys and i had seasonal, DH missed out as they were low in supply. have not had HINI as the supplies were very low on that

5. Do you know how to sew?
I wish!

HAPPY SNOW!!! We had a snow day yesterday and got 10 inches. It has been snowing on and off since then and we are loving it! Got out to xc ski, have a snowball fight, build a snowman... all the mandatory activities! Feels very Christmasy

Have a great weekend!

I want to live with you!!
We have only had a bit of snow (maybe 2 inches) but it is bitterly cold. I love winter but only if it comes with lots of snow to play in.

Come on over - we have room!

Of course the down side of winter came last night and today -front screen/glass door blew off last night (dh was SO happy as he is constantly reminding boys to close it all the way!), then this AM one car would not start and the other had a flat as we need new tires(it goes flat in the cold). UGH! I still love it though.
