#21900, "10 yro and older question"

I am wondering if your children sleep in the same room? IF there was a change in sleeping arrangements when did it occur? What are their genders?
Thank you!

We were living in a 3-bedroom house when the triplets were born. Our older son (3.5 at the time) had his own room. Our home was not big and the trio shared a room.
First, it was 3 cribs. Then, 3 toddler beds. Then, 3 twin beds. Then, bunks with a trundle. Frankly, we just ran out of room!
We added on to our house 5 years ago. The boys were starting 2nd grade. They each have their own bedroom. It's great!
Each of my boys has a very different personality. They like having their own room to escape to when they wish. Each is decorated very differently and reflects the boys' interests.
Hope that helps.

My guys will be 10 in April and this has been a big issue for us recently. They have always shared a room and when we built our house 6 years ago, we thought about what to do and decided to make one big room with a separate cubby for each ones bed. that has worked well but they really want their own rooms now(actually 2 do, the other is ok with it and may be scared in his own room). So now we are looking at how to redo our house - I am kicking myself as I wish we built it with that in mind. We have the space but it still will cost to reconfigure it. We are telling them that by the time they are 12 we will make sure they have their own space. Like Sharon, my guys have very different personalities and since they are together all the time, it would be nice for them to have something all their own. We also plan to then get them bigger beds as they are tall and the twins will be too small - plus they can then come back with their wives and have their own room (their wives might appreciate not sharing!)

My girls share a room and will until college (maybe even then??).
When the girls were in cribs their brother (15 mos older) also shared the room. It was easier for us to have one sleeping room and one playing room.
When my son went to kindergarden, he switched to his own room but the continued to have "sleepovers" frequently.
Even now at 13 and nearly 15, the tradition is on Chritmas Eve they all sleep in one of the rooms.

Mine will be 10 in March. Our triplet son shared a room with his big brother and the girls shared a room until they were 4. Each child has his/her own room now. They wanted it that way... Deb Son, 12 GGB, 10

Three boys...
Two bedroom house for the first 11 years, so the Boys shared a room, about 10'x12' I think. A set of bunkbeds and a single bed -- who slept where changed every six months, based on who's turn it was to pick first..changed on their birthday and 6 mos later.
Bought a three bedroom house, originally looking for a 4 bedroom, single storied home (due to dw knees and a desire not to clime stairs constantly). Settled on the the 3-bedroom which had a a master bedroom with full bath upstairs built into the original attic. Two of the boys were excited about sharing that room and the boy who always wanted his own room, got one (but that he has to give up, as part of the deal, when company stays.) Dw does not go up into the upper bedroom often.
There are times when the two upstairs might wish to have their own room, and sounds of fighting do tumble down the stairs occasionally. "Are you two fighting up there?!" "No Dad, we're just argueing."
Vaughn
PS...cribs -- started out in one until they got too big, then went to two (alternating who slept alone), then to three cribs.

The kids are 11 now. Our b/b/g trio shared a nursery - 3 cribs - then shared a room with 3 toddler beds until about age 4-5.
We then moved and dd had her own "princess" room and the boys shared a room (twin over full bed but they both boys slept in the full as I just used the twin for storage - they were too little for the upper bunk).
We bought our house when they were 6. It is a 4 bdrm cape - the 2 bedrooms upstairs are the only 2 rooms upstairs. Dd has the smaller room and the boys share the larger room but have 2 twin beds now instead of the full and one of our older boys got the full for his room. He has since moved out and took the bed with him.
Most likely this arrangent will continue as long as we live here.
On the flip side, sadly all of us do share ONE bathroom - LOL.
We made 2 bedrooms in the basement for the older boys but use the 2nd bedroom on the main floor as a tv/school/computer/office room. It was especially great for homeschooling to have a separate space.
FWIW, my trio didn't have a problem being together at all. It was more ME wanting to make a girly room while she was still little since she is the only girl out of our 5.

My BGG trio are 10 and my younger son is almost 9. We have a room for each, but they wanted to share so we created a boys room and a girls room...fully decorated and all. They slept that way for about a year then decided that sleepovers were more fun, so they all sleep in the boys room. I figure they will want their own rooms eventually, but until then it's less sheets to wash! Lol
