#22005, "Monday Updates, March 1, 2010"

Yikes - it's March. That means spring is around the corner as well as Daylight Savings Time. We had a taste of nice spring weather yesterday and I loved it!

Quiet weekend here. My husband is building a closet organizer system for our master closet. We've been here 5 years now and we're just getting around to it! LOL! He's very handy and the organizer will be so sturdy. In case of an earthquake, hold on to the shelves! I worked in the yard with the boys. Lots of general spring cleanup. We also shampooed the carpets in the cars. Gosh, they were filthy.

Here are a few questions for the week.

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup?

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics?

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)?

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper?

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner?

Have a great week.

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup? Spring cleanup is a must in our area of the country. As soon as the snow is gone and the ground is dry we have at it. We've been in this house for almost twelve years and the front door and 3 garage doors need to be painted. Oh joy. We have to spread mulch this year too. Our windows are filthy on the outside. Blech.

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics? I watched it when I thought about it. I enjoyed watching the ice skating, but found the snowboarding to be fun to watch too.

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)? We have a designated meeting place in the basement with a battery powered radio, flashlights, etc.

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper? I have to sleep on my side with a body pillow between my knees, otherwise I wouldn't be able to walk the next day. My lower back is shot. I have had to sleep this way ever since having the triplets.

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner? A mixture.

Still maintaining an A average with my classes. I am learning soooo much but I am looking forward to spring break just to catch up on housework and stuff. Dh has been picking up the slack and I feel so bad because he has been putting in 60 hour work weeks. He doesn't complain (much) because he knows how much this means to me.

Officially back into my workout routine! Between illness and a hurt lower back I have been out of it for weeks. Man! I am so out of shape. SO frustrating!

Otherwise, life has been pretty ho-hum, which I am thankful for!

FYI: There is a nasty computer virus out there. We had the pleasure of dealing with it on Thursday night. It was a pop-up that came from the taskbar and it appeared to be legit....saying it came from Windows. It was a real PITA to get rid of! I ran my purchased ant-virus program and it did get rid of it but I had to run a system restore because my computer was still acting funky. That's how I spent my Thursday night.

I just noticed you are in school also. What are going to school for? It's tough juggling school and family isn't it? I'm pretty new to it, I still have 2 years left.

I haven't been on here forever... my triplets are now 7 years old and in 1st grade and my oldest son is 14 and a freshman in high school. I used to get on TC all the time when my kids were younger. I'm currently in college myself, going back to get my nursing degree. I need to start packing.... we are moving April 1st. We found a bigger home that's closer to the schools and parks/swimming pool. We are all very much looking forward to it... except for the actual moving part

1. Spring yard cleanup- not really, waiting for all this snow to melt...I forgot what our yard looks like

2. Olympics- I watched the ice skating w/ my daughters the other day and they thought it was so neat... the ice skating is my favorite.

3. Emergency kit- No, I really should put something together though

4. Sleep- I used to be a devout back sleeper until I was pregnant w/ the trio now I'm a side sleeper

5. Habits- nice mixture

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup? Whoa - that is months off for us still...we will pick up dog poop, put down fertilizer, and do lots of flower bed work when this snow melt (that might be after sandbagging)

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics? got sick of them for the first time this year - I am ready for them to be over so i can watch real TV

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)? Flooding hits my town, but not my home. I stock up on paper goods, advil (for sandbaggers) and canned foods when they predict a spring flood, because we inherit more people as those impacted need somewhere to go.

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper? Stomach with two pillows - one under my head and one kinda tucked wherever I need it...

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner?
Some of each - our older son is JUST like his dad and the triplets are all mixtures.

Good day to you all. I get so excited every year when spring comes around, but having a March birthday means I add another year to my age. They seem to be adding up really fast lately!!! I have gotten a little lax on doing a lot of my yard and house cleaning. I did a really great job trimming the front bushes last fall, so at least that is done. I really need to dig into this house and purge, but most of the stuff isn't mine. We seem to be a huge storage unit for the kids!!!!

1. I do a spring yard clean up, but it just takes me a little longer than it used to. LOL

2. Sadly, I didn't pay any attention to the Olympics this year. I guess I had too much going on here at home to really care.

3. No emergency kits. I used to when the kids were little, but now I don't.

4. Side sleeper all the way!!!

5. Habits, now that is a tough one since I am the only female in the household. The boys do have some of my good habits. They also have some of dh not so good habits. LOL

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup?
We still ave snow on the ground and they predict more this week but usually we are clear by the end of march and we will have ltos of clean up- tons of doggie doo, leftover leaves, dead grass, branches, mud etc. By May we need to add mulch and after Mothers Day plant the annuals and garden.

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics?
I love the Olympics! I watched as much as possible and especially loved the snowboard and ski cross. We have friends who live in North Vancouver and sent us frequent updates so we felt more involved than usual. The highlight was the USA/Canada hockey game Sunday night. Though I cheered for the USA, I was delighted to see the Canadians win in overtime.

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)?
no

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper?
side

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner?
A mixture.

A good Tuesday to you all!

Good weekend...watch Bryce play the stand-up bass at the county music festival on Saturday evening. Sunday I sat above the ocean for awhile and then visited a friend -- helped him do a little work in the kitchen (as in remodeling...we're guys, remember...LOL!)

1. spring yard cleanup? That was last Saturday morning -- mowed the lawn yesterday afternoon.

2. Olympics? Did not watch it, of course heard some news. I just wish it would not be all about (for example) the USA won so many medals (or Canada, Russia, etc), but that we remember it is the athletes that compete -- not the couch potatoes.. I guess I am just not into the nationalism part of it all.

And since I am in a complaining mood -- the Olympics took a nose dive when they began to allow professional athletes compete. it just ain't the same!

3. home emergency preparedness kit -- yes

4. side sleeper

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner? The boys have all my good habits and all my wife's bad habits, of course! Actually each boy is different so it is an odd mix of habits distributed willy-nilly amoungst the boys.

Hi All

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup?
Not for awhile outside as we have lots of snow still and it will take awhile for it to dry up! Will clean up yard, clean windows, working on one room at a time clean up and clean out! (This weekend is the kitchen

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics?
Very fun for us to watch - though only watched 2 days. We streamed it through a friend's TV in another state (we do not have TV) and watched thru a projector ona sheet in the living room! We were especially excited about the nordic as many of those guys were from just north of us and we love nordic skiing ourselves! I loved how humble the athletes all were (at least when we saw them)

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)?
No

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper?
all of the above - I move around!

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner?
A lovely mixture!

Hope you all have a good week. I am SO impressed by the one (cannot remember who as I thought it was Sharon but see that it was not) did major clean up last weekend! You go girl! (I do remember it was not Vaughn

Hi Sharon and all...spring really is right around the corner. I don't know about you, but the sun going down later and later makes my day...it's still light at 5:30PM!! YAY!

1. Have you/do you do a spring yard cleanup?
I really need to, since it didn't happen last year.

2. What were your feelings about the Olympics?
I didn't see much, but what I did see made me think they were in need of much more snow than they had. Should've had the winter Olymics in D.C. this year.

3. Do you have a home emergency preparedness kit for the natural disasters that may affect your area (earthquake, tornadoes, flooding)?
Great question...I woke up to no power this morning and realized that I am NOT equiped for a disaster, other than having the flashlight handy, and that didn't help with a shower in the dark, and no hair dryer...YIKES!

4. Are you a back sleeper, tummy sleeper, or side sleeper?
I was a tummy sleeper before becoming pregnant with triplets, I am now a side sleeper-can't sleep on my tummy now, or my back is in great pain...anyone else relate to that?

5. Are your kids habits more like you or your partner?
ooooh...sore subject...I'll put it this way, the bad habits are his influence, and the good ones, ahem...are all mine LOL!! Actually, it's pretty even. Two of ours are more like me and two are more like him.

Take Care,
Mare
