#22438, "Monday Updates, Nov. 8, 2010"

Good morning everyone. I'm so bad about posting on Monday mornings that I decided to post a full 24 hours early!

It's been a busy weekend. Bunko, a full day of water polo, a broken toilet, playdates, etc. And I still have Sunday to go. Dinner out for a friend's birthday is on tonight's agenda and lots of college applications with older son. There's just no end.

Last week was filled with doctor appointments. One of my boys, "B", has asthma and it's flaring up. His cough was so bad, despite all the meds, that I took him in to the doctor. His asthma is flaring because of a sinus infection and ear infection. He hasn't had an ear infection since he was 3! So antibiotics and steroids for the week. He's a bit better but I expected him to have rebounded a lot faster.

"A" is on the final lap for his braces. He's also missing an adult lateral incisor and has an undersized lateral incisor on the other side. You can't miss the missing toothwhen he smiles since it's right in front! So this week he had bonding put on the undersized incisor and he has a full tooth! We have seen that since 3rd grade. He'll end up wearing a retainer with a tooth in it for several years until he's done growing and can get an implant. But he'll have an awesome smile!

Here are a few questions to start us off this week.

1. Do you recycle?

2. Do you donate to food pantries? Year-round or during the holidays?

3. Are you a laundry "once a week" kind of person or laundry "all the time" kind of person?

4. How clean is your desk? What's on it right now?

5. Do you balance your checkbook?

Here are my answers.

1. Do you recycle? We have weekly recycling service at the house. We recycle yard waste in one receptacle and paper/plastic/glass in another. Separately, we take all soda cans and bottles to the recyclers about once a month to get the money back. The boys split the proceeds.

2. Do you donate to food pantries? Year-round or during the holidays? I donate during the Thanksgiving holidays and donate toys during the Christmas holiday season.

3. Are you a laundry "once a week" kind of person or laundry "all the time" kind of person? My machine is always going....

4. How clean is your desk? What's on it right now? It's a disaster. I have a huge pile of college papers for my son and other to-do things. The pile isn't huge but gets spread out since the boys use my computer for internet access. It's on my list to do today!

5. Do you balance your checkbook? Nope - I check it daily for checks that have cleared (I'm still missing 2 from school signups in August that can take up to 6 months to clear!).The banks are automated - why should I balance it?

Have a great week.

My week was busy. I finally started getting ready for the holidays. I bought some gifts today. This coming week is going to busy. I have meetings, taste tests and shopping.

1. I used to recyle and put the money in our vacation fund. Now I just recycle through our city.

2. Sometimes I will donate through school or through a club I belong to. But, I haven't done as much lately. We are still helping my son who is in college. I guess sometimes, it is family first.

3. When the kids were here, the machines were going constantly. Now I wash a few loads on Saturday.

4. I don't use a desk, but I have a counter that is full of coupons, calendars and that stuff.

5. I still balance my checkbook. I check the my account daily, but still balance it. I am a bookkeeper at heart.

Hello all!

1. Do you recycle? yep -- curbside and trips to the recycling center

2. Do you donate to food pantries? Canned goods seem to go various places at various times.

3. Laundry "once a week" with occasional loads as I think of it.

4. How clean is your desk? Not clean at all. At my office right now -- on the desk is a tea kettle (and box of 100 tea bags), phone, dead cameras (3 or 4), working cameras (1), various lenses (7 or 8), can of contact cement, filters, cd's, paper and more paper, film to develop, container of Sodium metaborate (technical grade), various tools, pencils, pens and markers, and a bunch of other stuff.

5. Do you balance your checkbook? No -- I check the balance online occasionally...do not use it as much now that debit cards were invented.

THis a weird week for us as the girls have just Thursday off. Will make for a fun Wednesday night at least.

I sprained my ankle about a month ago and I can't run, that lack of running is starting to get me a little down. I used running to keep depression at bay. I am looking into joining a gym so I can still get out there and exercise besides just weight lifting..but running was mostly free, a gym cost money...oh well...the price I pay to be happy

1. Do you recycle? Yes, curb side

2. Do you donate to food pantries? Yes, when asked

3. Are you a laundry "once a week" kind of person? Yes, I do at least one load a day...keeps me sane.

4. How clean is your desk? What's on it right now? Pretty clean, organzined piles of paperwork. And my calendar.

5. Do you balance your checkbook? No, that is what the bank is for. I do check the balance often...

Liz

I'm posting a few days late, it's been kid-schedule-crazy this week. I long for those baby/toddler days,lol!

We've been running around every night for the last couple of weeks. Between sports stuff, religious ed, school stuff...argh. Combine that with trying to squeeze in time for my class, I'm about ready to slit my wrists. This class is hard and I am getting discouraged. But, I am managing to maintain an A average.

Our house has been hit with a virus. Dd started on Friday. Sore throat and stomach ache. No cold symptoms or a fever. On Sunday night she didn't even want to swallow her own saliva. Saw the ped on Monday and the rapid strep came back negative, so we are just dealing with a viral tonsilitis. School called this morning for dd#2. She doesn't have any tonsils but her throat is beet red and she is complaining of a stomach ache. Such is the life of parents with school aged kiddos. Unfortunately this is a work day for me and we are busy. Thankfully, my boss is flexible and I am going in after dh comes home from work to get as much stuff done as I can.

1. Do you recycle? curbside

2. Do you donate to food pantries? Year-round or during the holidays? Generally during the holidays. My office has a yearly food-drive.

3. Are you a laundry "once a week" kind of person or laundry "all the time" kind of person? Oh gawd. The "L" word. In the past I have done a few loads per day, but lately it's been one a week. It's so daunting and I hate every minute of it.

4. How clean is your desk? What's on it right now? My desk at work is spotless. My desk at home is looking pretty good because I just cleaned it off last week . The desk that I have my laptop on for school is a disaster! Textbooks, workbooks, reference books....probably a half cup of capachinno from Sunday too.

5. Do you balance your checkbook? Nope, as a pp said, that's the banks job . I do keep track of the balance though. Last month dh forgot to deposit a check and in one day we had 5 overdraws. That's never happened before and I was ready to cream dh.

Have a great week everyone!
