#22443, "Game Ideas Needed-3rd grade party"

Hello Vets,

I was the sole parent to sign up to be 3rd grade room mom. I enlisted a couple of friends to help and ended up totally left behind with the Halloween party - snif.

I want to get out ahead in the Christmas Party planning (our meeting is this week). And I need some great ideas for games/crafts.

We have about 40kids total and can use one classroom and a long hall for our activities. Does anyone have any big winners for me?

TIA.

Marie

When my boys were in 3rd grade, we had a rotating set of activities. There were four tables and kids rotated for the arts and crafts activities. We did a craft from Oriental Trading, made sachets for gifts, did picture frames (took the kids photos earlier in the month so they were printed and ready to go), etc. I do remember the crafts were a big hit.

The photos (4 x 6) were just head shots and the kids made frames ( I think with Popsicle sticks). Add glue and lots of glitter/sticks).

The sachets were easy and fun. Buy lots of cheap potpourri at the gift shops. But lots of cheap fabric and cut into 15 x 15 squares (sizes can vary - try it out before hand). Buy lots of cheap ribbon and cut them to length. We also made pre-made labels that were hole-punched. The kids could write on the construction paper labels "To: , From: ", then thread it with a ribbon. Put square on table, throw some potpourri in the middle, gather it up in the center, tie with ribbon. Voila - great little gifts! Each kid could make several.

Good luck!
