#22585, "Monday Updates, March 7, 2011"

It's the first update for March. Hard to believe that we are in to the 3rd month of the year.

Things are centered around college selection around here. Going to meet with the financial aid officer of a local private college today. Most of the other schools my son is considering are public. Then, I'll do a spreadsheet comparison of all the schools so we can decide what is best for our family. College is expensive. Unfortunately, you need to consider that most public CA colleges will take 5-6 years to go through. Budget cuts have been brutal.

Spent some time buying some outfits for the boys. We plan to have our family portrait done in early April. I don't want all of them to wear identical outfits. With 4 teenage boys and 1 day, it's just too matchy-matchy. Coordinating outfits is a challenge, too. I'm going with blue tones so I think it's started. Shopping at the mall with boys is fun - NOT! And I only took 2 because they also needed shoes.

Here are some questions for the week.

1. Have you finished your taxes yet?

2. What's the price of gas in your area?

3. Have you started planning or doing any spring planting?

4. When is spring break in your area?

5. What's your exercise regime?

Have a great day.

Sharon,
We have to attend a college financial aid seminar in a few weeks. One of the topics to be discussed is public vs private. I was told by my dd's guidance counselor not to rule out private as it may actually be more affordable than public. Especially with what has been happening in our state. A lot of changes are expected if this budget bill is passed. I think we are going to be seeing more kids choose private colleges.

1. Have you finished your taxes yet? Yes. Im cashing the check today.

2. What's the price of gas in your area? Around $3.50 and climbing

3. Have you started planning or doing any spring planting? No. The weather is still wintry around here. In the upper 20's and we are expecting a storm with "significant accumilation this Wednesday. Terrific.

4. When is spring break in your area? The kids have off the Thursday and Friday before Easter. Also the Monday after Easter.

5. What's your exercise regime? Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 1 hour of weights and about 1/2 hour of light cardio (walking 4mph on the treadmill) Tuesdays and Thursdays: about 45 minutes of moderate cardio. At least that's what I TRY to do,lol!

Have a great week everyone!

It seems like it has taken a very long time for March to get here this year. Our winter has been brutal. Much like the old winters we had back in the 70's and 80's. Loads of snow. (just so you know, I hate snow more than anything else)

But my birthday and anniversary are in March. Don't like rolling over to that one year older thing!!!

1. We have all our tax stuff collected together, but dh has not done them yet. I hope we get back a lot of money this year. But, I guess I say that every year.

2. $3.59 is what a gal of unleaded is going for here.

3. We had a lot of landscaping professionally done last fall. I can't wait to see it this year. But it is still under a good 3 feet of snow.

4. Spring break starts on Friday.

5. My regime is broken. But come this weekend I will be starting it again. (I hope) I love the treadmill.

1.Have you finished your taxes yet? I just did my Japanese taxes (and as I did them by myself in Japanese, I am feeling pretty good My US taxes are yet to be filed but I never get refunds so I am fine with being last-minute Charlie.

2. What's the price of gas in your area? The equivalent of $6.70 a gallon- yikes!

3. Have you started planning or doing any spring planting? Not yet.

4. When is spring break in your area? Spring break starts at the end of next week.

5. What's your exercise regime? Would that I had one

I second Vaughn's good wishes. Hope all is well with you and your family as Japan endures this tremendous earthquake.
