Thank you so much! Yesterday, I only got motion-sick from the swaying so I count myself as lucky there. We are in Nagano, which got hit this morning, but our part of the prefecture just got jostled. Thank God! Those poor folks to the north of here- I just cannot believe the devastation. Very sad times. It means so much to have folks think of all of us over here. So many people needing prayers...

You are too kind. I am so fortunate to be fine. I get nervous but I realize how lucky my family and I are to be safe.
There are those who need so much help- keeping everyone over here in your thoughts and prayers, donations to organizations working here...
I am in awe of how the folks are dealing with horrifying destruction. People wait quietly in line for water, food, transportation...no looting... such resilience. Amazing.

Yeah, it was the first one built in California. It had shut down for maintenance in 1976 when an earthquake hit and a fault was discovered under it. The cost of retrofitting it to a higher earthquake standard due to the fault was not economic. It is now a natural gas-powered generating plant. They shut it down temporarily when the Tsunomi warning was given from the Japan quake.

I am right now at my parents' house. My kids and I bought tickets in January for March 18th. We drove to the airport in Tokyo without a hitch (well, one earthquake). Our plane was late taking off- by one minute. I felt guilty leaving my husband behind but he insists everything is fine (well, the radiation levels are, where we are). It is heartening to see that the Fukushima situation is looking somewhat better in the cooling department.

Glad that everything is good with your family.

I got really busy for a few days and hadn't read any updates about the situation. Once I realized that, I actually felt guilty. I know life goes on, but we need to remember what these people are going through.

It just seems like in this day and age, that people shouldn't be living without clean water, shelter and food. We seem too high tech for that to be a problem. But nature doesn't quite see it that way.
