Yeah! Only 4 more days and it's spring break. We need it around here.
This past week has been awful. One of my boys, "S", had surgery. He's had chronic sinus infections for the past year and done so many rounds of antibiotics. We gone through the pediatrician, allergist, and the ENT. An infection settled in his tonsils and when it flares up, he has horrible breath. Can't be controlled and he feels awful.
Surgery was Thursday - tonsils, adenoids, and surgery to reduce swollen tissues in his nose. Simple operations for young kids, awful for adults. My 6' son is on the adult side. His tonsils were deeply embedded so they had to do a lot of cutting. Pain meds are around the clock - my dh or I sleep on the couches with him to make sure he's medicated at night. Like having a baby on a 4-hour schedule of feeding.
Surgery went well but he didn't come out of anesthesia well. Took 4 people to hold him down. Then he broke out in a rash. He's now allergic to penicillin. The worst is days 4-8 so we're in the midst of things now. He's not eating very much.....not normal for him.
Then, there was the sudden death of my son "A's" water polo coach. He coached three local teams - summer rec league, water polo and swim team at my son's high school, and my son A's water polo team. Tremendous loss - he was only 28. Memorial at the school last Saturday plus another big memorial next weekend. A horrible week for kids in our city and a tremendous loss of a great young man.
I'm out of questions so feel free for updates today!

Wow, busy life you are dealing with Sharon.
I am sorry to hear about the coach. That is scary, he was the same age as my boys.
I hope your son can recover quickly from his surgery. It is so hard to watch your kids dealing with pain.
My big news is that my Meteorology son has a part-time broadcast job 2 hours away from home. He will be totally broke, due to so few hours, but it is a foot in the door kind of job. He has only a few days between graduation and his first day of work. We are trying to figure out how to get him and his stuff moved back here from MS. He is thinking of driving here, dumping a load and then driving back down to get the rest. His car is not big enough to cover the load. mom to: Ryan 32 The Lawyer Jason 30 The Chief Meteorologist Chris 30 The College Student Tim 30 The college grad
I love hearing their versions of their childhood memories!!

Does not sound like a good week at all. Wishing you the best for the up-coming Spring Break!
My boys' Spring break began today. I'll get the boys for the second half. But Thursday afternoon, Alex has a tooth removal appointment, so we'll have to wait until later that afternoon before we head off to do some camping, depending on how he is doing (and the weather!)
Bryce avoided having his tonsils and adenoids out this break. After appointments with the eyes-ear-and throat guy and a neurologist, it was decided that just some iron suppliments would be the best course with his sleep apnea. He has a a leg-jerking thing going on that wakes him up and that is what the iron suppliment is for. He is not ameamic, but there is an iron compound he is deficient in, so this actually seems to be helping.
He has always had over-sized tonsils, but his recent growth has made it so that there is adaquate space in there now.
I has my tonsils and adenoids out when I was 14. It got a little messy with some bleeding, but I had had to live with so many sore throats growing up, that the pain of healing was no worse than what I had to go through on a regular basis. I don't remember having any sore throats since...so it was worth it.
Good luck on his healing!
My Dad was in the hospital again -- an infection on his leg due to a cut (thin skin of these 88 year olds!). But home now.
