#22736, "Separate grades"

Does anyone have their triplets in different grades in school? I would really like advice from someone who has been through this.

The school is wanting to have my girls repeat third grade and put my son in fourth grade.

Any advice from those that have been through this is appreciated. Thank you!!

Sorry, I've not experienced this...yet. I did hold all 3 back a year for Kindergarten (August birthday, Oct. due date). Only one of them was definitely ready when they were about to turn 5 and could have gone. She is still above them academically and I would much rather it be that way than to have my other two struggling. I think that teachers are more ready to challenge someone than to stop and help someone who is slower.

Of course, your situation is a bit tougher. All their friends will be advancing to 4th I'm assuming. Is there any way they could catch up this summer and be ready for 4th? I'm not sure I'd want to hold him back, but wouldn't want to see my girls struggling. Maybe you could find a teacher who would be willing to tutor them over the summer so they are ready to move on to 4th grade. or even one of the learning centers that have cropped up in the last decade. (Sylvan, etc.)

The extra cost now might save some headaches later when being in different grades becomes an issue between them. I have heard 2nd hand about a friend of a friend who did split her trio into different grades and it was not a good experience for her.
