#253, "My memorial for ^i^Jack............""
|
I don't know that everyone here knows what I do. Since my son,Jack, passed away 4 years ago, I make tiny burial gowns for other NICU families to use. There have tragically been numerous losses here lately and it got me to thinking more about my son. I didn't want his short life to have been in vain. Each year on his birthday and/or angel day, I do something special in Jack's name. This year I have been quite busy with the impending divorce and 4 small children to raise. But I didn't want Jack's day (which also happens to be my youngest's birthday)to pass by unmarked. I want to offer up the gowns I make to anyone here at TC that needs them. I sincerely hope I would never have to donate them but I know that is unrealistic. I crochet the gowns and caps-each one can take me up to 2 weeks depending how much spare time I have. Generally, they will fit babies 4 pounds and under. 7Mozzas has one of the gowns I made so she can attest to the quality. Perhaps she can even scan a picture of it for me as I am w/o a scanner for the moment. Currently,I have 2 completed ones here -one blue and one rainbow pastel. I am almost done with a pink one. I have been donating them to the local NICUS here to use. But I would like to open it up here too as TC has been very supportive of me. Just contact me thru e-mail or private message and I will be willing to overnight the gowns and caps anywhere in the world. If anyone else knows how to crochet, knit or sew and would be interested in helping create the gowns, I would love to have help. The website I use for patterns is http://www.hood.edu/carewear. God Bless,Korrie

Thank you so much for this website I remember when I was given three outfits with caps when the girls were first born in NICU. I just took a sewing class and recently (4 days ago) started to crochet...sooo with that said if only I was better I could volunteer my time. I hope to get some more lesson and when I get better I could help out. Are the supplies donated by the maker of the outfit or does the organization help out with that?
