I just couldn't resist sharing the news...

This past Wednesday, my middle triplet, Emilee, at just 4.2 years old insisted Daddy take her training wheels off. We were hesitant, as we all know what a pain (in the back that is) to teach a child to ride a two wheeler but dh gave in. OMG... she took off and hasn't looked back since. She pretty much yelled at dh to let her bike go and she just rode down the whole length of the street by herself, has the whole balance thing going and all. She stops easily and is currently working on her turns. I am soo proud of her (an she is very proud of herself)! She has always been first to reach milestones in gross motor skills first and will probably be my athlete.

Heck, my son didn't learn to ride until he was 5! Funny thing is our two neighbor boys (both 6) have been outside lately attempting to ride two wheelers to no avail and here comes Emilee pedaling along. I felt soo bad for the boys.

We have reached all of our milestones using the "monkey see, monkey do" method so now Allyson has her training wheels off and is working very hard. Unfort. my back know that she just isn't quite as ready as Emilee!

I can't wait to get my new digital camera this week so I can snap a few photos.

Just had to share!

WOO HOO!!! Way to go Emilee!!! This is one of my favorite milestones for kids to reach because they are so pround and feel SO COOL that they can do it!

Shannon, Trevor, and Sierra all got their training wheels off at age 3 1/2 and got it in a day, but I know many who have struggled well past age 6-7! Our trips will give it a try this summer- they will be 3 1/2. They have been riding their little training wheel bikes around the block since last year and I'm sure by this summer they'll be ready to get the suckers off!

CONGRATS and get some pictures!!!

WOW! Congrats Emilee!!!

My girls will be 5 in May and we haven't taken the training wheels off yet. It has just now started getting nice enough outside that they are riding their bikes again. We'll probably give them a few months this spring to get used to being on their bikes after a long winter and hopefully by their birthday they will want the training wheels off. I usually walk while they ride and I have to keep up a good pace. When the TW come off I don't think I will be able to keep up. Guess I'll have to hop on my bike too!

** My DS asked at age 4 to have us take his TW off. He hopped on and took off too. I think when they ask, DO IT!! They must know when they are ready.

Kim that's awesome! Robin and Abby are still working on tricycles! They've been riding around inside the house b/c it's been rainy.

Way to go Emilee! It's the sweetest little sight to see a little girl (or boy) riding a two-wheeler. Most still have their training wheels. She's a daredevil. Watch out for her!

My guys didn't learn until age 5. Now there's no stopping them.

Wow, that's terrific Emilee! Our older son have them off early too. Funny we both have an Emily (Emilee) and Allison (Allyson) but they are reversed it seems. Our Emily is the least coordinated (but biggest flurt) and Allison is very athletic. Nathan is ahead of the girls on that stuff, but it just plain bigger too. The girls are better with the writing and letter recognition. I'm glad they each have their own forte. Looking forward to your pics...
