#1281, "Sleeping In Crib"

I am getting a bit obsessed with this forum...but it is so great to get insight from other parents of multiples. Has anyone out there had any experience with transitioning their babies from the Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleepers to a crib? Mine started out sleeping in the crib, and were in the Rock and Plays during the day. After two months of sleepless nights we tried letting them sleep in them at night too. This has been a bit too successful. They love them because of the inclined position, but now I can't get them to sleep in the crib! I've been trying to have them nap in the crib during the day, and right now they last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on their mood. I know they will have to get used to it, but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and has any advice? My BBG triplets are 4 months old.

we slept all naps in swings and night in cribs for a long time. my worst refluxer slept in a swing in her room until she was about 10 months old then transitioned to the crib. Once you get the reflux under control it will get easier. Everything will get easier They should start sleeping better soon. I think we started sleeping longer stretches 'through the night' from 4-6 months then a growth spurt had them taking a bottle at night from 6-8 months and the've generally slept all night since 8 months. my mom used to tell me I had to stop sleeping them in the swings, but why? pick your battles I guess.

I didn't know about this product until just now. We have two refluxy kiddos 2.5mos / 0 mos adjusted. After reading the BRU reviews, I'm going over there and getting two right now.

We have been using those Fischer Price Rock N Play Sleepers since the triplets came home from the NICU. They have been wonderful!! They are almost 4 mo (adjusted) & we use them for every feeding. For the first 3 months they slept in cradle swings during the day & their FP Sleepers at night. Two weeks ago, we started placing them in their cribs after they fell asleep in the Sleepers (we call them bassinets) during their 9pm dream feeding. They've done great sleeping in their cribs at night, but whenever I try to lay them in their cribs for naps, we only get a 20-40minute nap instead of a 60-90minute nap in the cradle swings so for now I've just given up unless they're due to wake up for a feeding within a short period of time.

One of our girls has painful refux and our boy has painless, frequent spit up. These Sleepers have been perfect for keeping them at an inclined position for feeding and 20-30 minutes afterward. We swaddle them, put them in the Sleeper, and prop bottles which also allows me to feed all three at once by myself.

LIFESAVER product!!

One important note... our kiddos all had torticollis and abnormal head shapes from their necks always pulling their heads to one side. The Sleepers have a pretty hard plastic backrest under the cover so once we learned that our kids also had plagiocephaly (flat head/ sloped head shape), I cut up a cheap egg crate foam pad & slid it in between the backrest & the covering to make it cushy. I also did that for all the cradle swings. Their physical therapist also told us to get these "baby moon pillows" for reversing flat head syndrome which have been great. We keep their head on them when they're in the Sleepers or their crib & within 1 week already saw improvement.

I didn't transition from those sleepers. My daughter and son with reflux slept in their bouncey seats for a while. We first transitioned my son to his crib using a wedge and sling. Then when his reflux settled out, we moved the wedge and sling to my daughter's crib and that's what she still sleeps in now at almost 7months. She was on a medication for a vascular hemangioma of the eyelid (basically a swollen eyelid) and that kept her reflux symptoms pretty severe despite prilosec. I'm hoping as she gets off this other med, we'll find her reflux has improved enough to lay her flat in her crib.

I'm so a 'just try it' person. If it doesn't work the first night, I just try again the next night. I've found that whatever I want eventually works. Sometimes I go backwards for a few days, but then I just keep trying. My kids are never consistent, so I try to be.

I hope that makes sense! I'm still a little foggy from the cold I've been fighting.

Good luck!

The Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleepers have a history of causing flatheads. We had to stop the use of ours. Just putting it out there. Check the Amazon reviews for more info.

I loved the rock & play! My girls slept in them a lot when they came home from the hospital until about 4-5 months old (I think). I love how portable they are & as far as causing flat head, I think some kids are just more prone to developing that way. 2 of mine's heads were a little flat & one was not at all & they were all in them the same amount of time. I padded mine like someone else mentioned & also tried to do a lot of tummy time.
As far as transitioning, I put them in their cribs one at a time & they did pretty well. I think i also started w/ naps so they could get use to it. They were sleeping well through the night for awhile, but for some reason, they aren't anymore. They nap great, but I'm up every couple hours replacing pacifiers(some nights better than others). I returned each one to the rock & play for about a wk when they had RSV, then they started teething, so one thing after another & they just don't sleep like they use to.
My girls like to cuddle up w/ these little 12x12 blanket/bear head things. The crib just seemed so open & un-snuggly w/o blankets, compared to the rocker, & I want them to have a comfort item I felt was safe. Good luck!!
