#1300, "Feeding table/ high chairs??"

Hello,
I have BBG triplets that are 4 1/2 months old, as well as a 26 month old and a 17 yr old! My pediatrician has told us that it is time to start cereal for the babies. We are going to wait another month to do so since they are sleeping very well already and are not sitting up steady just yet. I was wondering what everyone has done as far as seating when it's time for solids. I am a teacher who is a victim of this wonderful economy. I was excessed so things are really tight right now. I would love to get a triplet table, but just can't afford it right now. I have the high chair from my 2 year old (she's in a booster seat) and was thinking of purchasing 2 more from Craig's list. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

we have three of the small booster seats with a tray and we strapped them on a piece of plywood (cut holes for the straps). It is very sturdy. The back rest adjusts so it can be reclined for smaller babies and upright for older ones. We love it. And, they fold down a bit and can go in the car easily if we're going somewhere. I want to say they were about $30 at BRU. high chairs would be nice because then we could separate the girls when we need to. right now they are very close and can 'share' and 'steal' food.

My 2 year old has the booster seat you talked about. That sounds like a good idea to use 3 booster seats on a piece of plywood. One question- where do you put the plywood? On the table? I had to laugh when you mentioned the "sharing" and "stealing" of food!

Thanks for the idea!

we had a long toybox that we turned on it's side and we put the 'feeding station' on that in the bay window. it is beside our dining room table so they sit right by us.

We went straight to high back boosters with trays and had them straped to the bench that went with our table. (the bench had a back on it so it was safe). I never did high chairs because they take up too much room. They sat in the same seats until they were over 3 years old and no longer needed them. We just used them without the tray. We used the Eddie Bauer wood seats. They had seat adjustment to two different heights too

One thought is the antelop from ikea.com. $20 each ($25 with tray) and they are stackable. Not a feeding table, but the price is right. Also not for babes not sitting up (would need cushions/pillows.) Good luck.

You can buy 6 feeding table seats for under $20 at elitedeals.com. Buy a sturdy dining room table 2nd hand from craigslist and cut 3 holes in it for the seats.

Having a feeding table for our triplets has made feedings so much easier. Cleanup is a breeze if you only have to wipe down 1 solid countertop or tabletop instead of 3 highchairs.

I started with mine in their little reclining bouncy chairs, and then they progressed to fold up high chairs as we were limited on space. Those high chairs saw us right through till they were 2 and able to sit at a little table.

We use a table as - like others said- individual chairs take a lot of space. Go to a Menards or similar ( or a habitat restore if they are by you) and get a leftover piece of counter-top 4-5' in length. Put some 2x4's under it for support and make or re-purpose a table for legs. The laminate cleans pretty easy. Ask around - a neighbor gave me a dining room table for just this purpose that she wanted to get ride of. It was worn on top but it didn't matter as I only wanted the legs and their support structure. If you go this route, legs at the corners are more stable then a pedestal type table. And a glass top table is unworkable.

It looks like you have a lot of suggestions! But I'll throw in my two cents. We went with the booster seats that you can strap on to a regular dining room chair. Let me tell you why I LOVE them so far.

Cost: I bought them at Babies R Us for $20 each. As you might already know, anything you buy three or more of the exact same thing, you get a 10% discount. (Except diapers of course) So they ended up being $18 bucks each. I did the research and not even wal-mart had the exact same chair I bought for that price.

Easy to Transport: We have loved being able to pack these up and take them to grandma's house etc when we visit over meal time. They fold up pretty tight and we just throw them in the back of our van.

Easy to Clean: The padded seats clean up great and even the entire seat can fit (although awkwardly) in our sink for a quick hose down if needed.

Good luck finding what will work for you guys!
